So happy that everyone is back on the same page now

 

The world really doesn’t deserve such a talented, dedicated performer like Bey. They deserve what they got last night.

As much as ruthless stan wars are a thing of the past (see: today's era of hybrid fans, the mature stance that everyone can win), I more and more see why the BeyHive v Navy spar was so deep for the Hive.

 

Imagine Beyonce delivering to the musical and performance quality she has for the entirety of her career and people (and sometimes huge entities) trying to diminish it in the name of propping up someone who doesn't compare on most metrics. 

Rih's success is undeniably impressive, but save for her last couple of eras (where she upped the ante as a performer), her popularity has largely hinged on her "cool" persona and ability to drop radio hits. Objectively, while both traits are advantageous in the music biz, they aren't a patch on what Bey brings to the table holistically. And I'm a fan of them both. 

 

Not trying to ignite a Bey v Rih thing, but watching last night knowing how hard Bey slayed everything she did while pregnant, makes me hope people continue to be the right kind of appreciative of the greatness she's consistently given us. It shouldn't be taken for granted when her peers...simply cannot compare.  

I agree wholeheartedly. I don’t really participate in the Hive/Navy thing because I genuinely love both - for different reasons ofc. But last night really showcased (and it was hard to ignore) just how much Rihanna relies on the “cool” factor. When I go to her concerts it fully works but I think being on that big of a stage made me realize just how much of a fan I am of Rihanna the person, not necessarily the entertainer…if that makes sense?

Something I've noticed is straight white men really, really seem to love Rihanna when they can use her against Beyonce. For some reason she's so much more palatable to them. I'm guessing Bey's close association with Obama and her overt political statements during Lemonade turned them against her forever

It has always been like this, straight men LOVE Rih because Bey intimidates them

Bey has always been and will always be a huge role model for (straight) women and that alone will always bother them

Of course Bey is also lucky to have formidable gay black fans who support her through thick and thin and can be considered her core fandom

 

Also let's not kid ourselves Beyoncé being seen as "perfect" bothers a lot of people regardless. Add her being a black woman? It could never go over well with people who love to humble others. "She is not relatable enough"? Nah she just strives to be the best version of herself and that isn't something everyone can relate to.

No bc prior to ANTI, she was just another edgy hit maker. She’s suddenly put on a pedestal after 8 albums where she finally serves a good body of work. And expectations are high like she’s an artisté in the same breath as Bey.. out of NOWHERE.  Now I love her, she’s put of bops and has a singles catalogue unlike any other. I’m not sure what they expected from that halftime and I don’t understand the overreaction. She literally has a history of being a poor performer and is unprofessional (musically), and people want to act surprised.

Ever since Formation, it’s been like this. Beyoncé used to be America’s sweetheart, not the polarizing figure she is today. White people despise her for obvious reasons.
