IDC, cus it must be said.

As much as ruthless stan wars are a thing of the past (see: today's era of hybrid fans, the mature stance that everyone can win), I more and more see why the BeyHive v Navy spar was so deep for the Hive.

Imagine Beyonce delivering to the musical and performance quality she has for the entirety of her career and people (and sometimes huge entities) trying to diminish it in the name of propping up someone who doesn't compare on most metrics.

Rih's success is undeniably impressive, but save for her last couple of eras (where she upped the ante as a performer), her popularity has largely hinged on her "cool" persona and ability to drop radio hits. Objectively, while both traits are advantageous in the music biz, they aren't a patch on what Bey brings to the table holistically. And I'm a fan of them both.

Not trying to ignite a Bey v Rih thing, but watching last night knowing how hard Bey slayed everything she did while pregnant, makes me hope people continue to be the right kind of appreciative of the greatness she's consistently given us. It shouldn't be taken for granted when her peers...simply cannot compare.

But on the same token, even as a primary Bey stan. I preferred Rih's setlist, was fire... They have different strengths and subsequently different areas of success (see touring and first week sales)... They really don't need to be directly compared, very different artists.

I'm probably a minority but I prefer her 2016 SB > 2013 SB. Not that the latter was bad or anything, but Formation was a literal cultural reset and she ended up overshadowing the actual headliners that year. She really needs to book another solo show while Jay Z is still in charge. Her post-2013 material needs its proper show/extravaganza. :weeps:

The backlash if she got to do it again while she is still at the pinnacle of her career :deadbanana2: Would be dope as a comeback thing 15 years from now.

The Hive really thought Bey’s pregnancies would slow down her career.

I feel for the Navy though, poor things.

They don't need to be, I agree. But they are. For pretty fair reasons (females out in the same period) and unfair (people comparing Black females as if they are a monolith and as if they can't ALL be successful).

At the same time, different performance styles and all, a slay is a slay and I don't believe in giving out passes for medicore-ness.

There are ways to slay in one's own context and last night was not that. Even being pregnant, there are so many ways everything could have been...better. From theme to guests to the actual core performance of it all. Just nah.

I know im a mess but this was a genuine mistake :ahh: I didn’t meant to enter the base and post that, I honestly thought it was just a random “Rih did bad in her HT show”-thread.

I’m not that petty, especially since I truly feel like Navy and Hive should support each other since Bey and Rih are still the most influential black artists in a vast sea of whiteness in Pop. I dont take back what I said tho - Rihs performance was terrible and there’s no excuse when u have the resources and time Rihanna has had to prepare the performance.

When artists disappear off the stage for several years, people forget what they saw in the past. They start inventing stories.

So happy that everyone is back on the same page now :siptea:

The world really doesn’t deserve such a talented, dedicated performer like Bey. They deserve what they got last night.

yeah we complain and this era was **** but jesus christ i’ll take 2013 beyhydration mixed with the EIL/dj khaled era mixed with the renaissance drought… hell throw in OTR III over mediocrity, another pregnancy :dies:  no tour, no professionalism and no album only makeup kits :dies:

if i were a navy i’d just hang it up, this would be the final coffin, poor things
