Every "gay icon" has performed in Dubai. The money is good and not everyone is anti-gay just because their government is. Half or even most Americans are against guns and support abortion rights but look at what the government is doing? 

 

They payed her an alleged $24 million. She's an entertainer. Of course, she's going to.take it and would be stupid not to.

It's really not hard to understand why she's performing there if you look back at her management/branding choices since 2013.

 

She's largely branded herself/and her "product" (music, performances, likeness) as a luxury item. Which means that you don't get to see it that often, when you do it's only under certain circumstances that match the "luxury" of the "product" itself, and it is always presented as if in a class of its own. This is something you can apply to any luxury item: watches, hotels, jewelry, etc.

 

It's quite unique for popstar, as they generally aim to be as accessible as possible, but in my opinion this is partly why she's been able to fast-track her legend status and have an image of excellence, quality and name recognition that represents those things. "She's the Beyoncé of the group..." or "She's the Beyoncé of [profession]" is much like saying "The Cadillac of baby-strollers", etc.

 

 

SO

Her performing in Dubai, a place known for its luxury first and foremost, at a prestigious hotel, for their most luxuries experience yet, for a big sum of money, for a crowd of elite individuals...well this all just is exactly the kind of branding she looks for.

 

Even her more accessible experiences (Coachella) are delivered in places that are first-of-their class. Coachella is kind of THE icon for festivals, at least in the US, and she used it while presenting herself as a unique figure who exists even beyond the bounds of their branding and purpose.

 

 

SO ANYWAY

I think it's less about the money than the entire package of where it is, what the venue is like, who the audience will be, how they're treating her as a gem of the evening, etc. etc. McDonald's could offer her $50 million to perform in one of thier playhouses but I doubt she'd do that because it doesn't fit the entirety of the branding choices she makes now.

Everyone is mad she’s performing because they’re not gonna be there to see it. If she would live stream it or something i don’t think anyone would be mad. How is it greedy kiiiiii. They got money to burn over there like would YOU turn down 24 million dollars to do the same thing you always do anyway? Y’all make no sense

Fatima Robinson is in Dubai at the resort. All my choreo gworls will know she's one of the best and now seems to be working with Bey properly. She did Oscars with her, Tiffanys ad, and now this. 

Expect the meltdowns and the bashing to come. Look i'm sad too that we wont get HD pics of her tonight or clips of the performance but let's be real. This isn't a concert, it's a special event for a hotel opening. It's a private event and guests didn't pay a dime to be there, they invited them in. Why are people so entitled to her image and her art? it's creepy how that woman is asked to give for free everything to the public because they crave her image. That isn't her business. She is an entertainer and if she wants to protect her art then good. I mean it's not surprising that she doesn't want the performances for songs that she has not performed for the public yet to be leaked tonight.

Quite frankly the way some of the hive has acted since the announcement of the performance, I am giggling at the blocking 
 

 

I don't necessarily think they will allow it to be viewed publicly, but logically one could theorize that Beyoncé and the hotel would want the global publicity that a Beyoncé: Live at the Atlantis Palm could bring both herself and the venue. If both are looking for prestige and recognition of what they offer, letting people see it beyond the few hundred at the event wouldn't be contrary to that decision.

The luxury thing doesn’t hold water. The most prestigious acts don’t perform at ribbon cuttings, people like J.Lo and Mariah do. Prestigious acts don’t sell sweatshop merchandise four times a year, people who are looking for more tax writeoffs do. Prestigious acts don’t collab with DJ Khaled and 2010s Eminem. I say just let the woman’s judgment be flawed once in a while x

 

Two things can be true at one. It’s true that I love her, want to know the setlist immediately, and would watch this concert if it were available to me. Of course! She is Fave! Also true that this is grimy as hell and she ain’t **** for showgirling for Dubai’s pocket change while doing nothing for her fans, in fact actively ignoring them. 1+1=2

For the other things no but for her performance tonight, it makes sense that she doesn't want it to leaked because there are songs from Renaissance included for sure. 

I’m not expecting them to live stream this performance, it’s for the hotel bla bla I get it, but the fact that they’re serving prison with the way they’re so strict about taking your own personal videos is ridiculous.
