Interesting i was waiting to know , i was thinking it was going to be Fatima . Damn so Jaquel and Chris are really out out i guess

Honestly, one of the things I'm most intrigued to see with her new era is her new team. Amidst the Rennie hype, frustrations etc, there have been a lot of key changes with her team that seems to have gone over most's heads:

* She's definitely switched up her choreography/creative team. No definitive word on who's in or out, but the fact she has the like of Fatima (who is top tier) suggests there's been a broad shake-up.

* Management has changed. Steve Pamon, who headed up Parkwood from 2014 has been gone since 2020/2021. Literally no definitive word on his replacement or if she's changed overall business structure.

* There's a few new names in big positions on the Rennie project credits (not the music, but more the business side of it).

Can't wait for for the BTS articles and hopefully her doc that spill more on this.

Two things can be true at one. It’s true that I love her, want to know the setlist immediately, and would watch this concert if it were available to me. Of course! She is Fave! Also true that this is grimy as hell and she ain’t **** for showgirling for Dubai’s pocket change while doing nothing for her fans, in fact actively ignoring them. 1+1=2 :cm:

Perfectly put.

The entitled fan accounts on twitter and instagram are desperate now to show anything because they dont have access to a damn thing! It's oddly satisfying to witness LMAO! I always thought the stalking was a bit much when it comes to Bey. Let's be honest the fans turned her into this monster. She wants to get away from this intense scrutiny once and for all it seems.

The luxury thing doesn’t hold water. The most prestigious acts don’t perform at ribbon cuttings, people like J.Lo and Mariah do. Prestigious acts don’t sell sweatshop merchandise four times a year, people who are looking for more tax writeoffs do. Prestigious acts don’t collab with DJ Khaled and 2010s Eminem. I say just let the woman’s judgment be flawed once in a while x

Stockholm Syndrome Hive refuse to accept that you can be both critical of her but also want to see the performance. They need to just admit that their fave has abandoned her fans.

Something may happen around the grammys, but this performance is literally a MASSIVE slap in the face to the hive :rip:

There is a ''grand reveal moment'' confirmed at the end of the performance. No idea yet if it's related to the Hotel or Beyoncé. Stay tuned.

Both sides of the "it's just a private show" and "could there be more coming" have valid points. Ultimately, several things can be true at once.

We know it's a private show and, to manage expectations, it makes sense to take it as just that and hope that we get crumbs here and there.

That said, Bey is extra af, is about to tour, and also has some of the best business minds around her. It makes total sense to use someone else's coin to produce a show that she can get paid on again should she sell it to a network or streamer. Guys, our girl has been on this "do less, make more" mode for a while. So it's not entirely far fetched. It'd also global promotion for the venue.

Again, I'm going into this expecting a few grainy clips from a private show. Much like the Indian wedding gig. But I'm equally open to the possibilities.

Ps. I still stand by my belief that she won't touch Rennie material. Or at least the songs we want to hear. That's being saved for the Grammys or some other globally-watched event.

Spoiler

Need to know if she has the tour body READY:jonny5:

We’re slowly being redirected from diner to the stage area.

It has been a really fun experience so far. Depending on which room you are staying in, you were « chosen » to eat at « this restaurant ».  That allowed them to make everyone discover a different dinner made by a different chef.

Okay then why is she there dd? She lost her wallet and needs $24M until her new debit card comes in the mail? It’s weird how one second she’s an industry titan, too big for anything atp, then suddenly she’ll appear at the opening of an envelope if the price is right. :clown:

It's really not hard to understand why she's performing there if you look back at her management/branding choices since 2013.

She's largely branded herself/and her "product" (music, performances, likeness) as a luxury item. Which means that you don't get to see it that often, when you do it's only under certain circumstances that match the "luxury" of the "product" itself, and it is always presented as if in a class of its own. This is something you can apply to any luxury item: watches, hotels, jewelry, etc.

It's quite unique for popstar, as they generally aim to be as accessible as possible, but in my opinion this is partly why she's been able to fast-track her legend status and have an image of excellence, quality and name recognition that represents those things. "She's the Beyoncé of the group..." or "She's the Beyoncé of [profession]" is much like saying "The Cadillac of baby-strollers", etc.

SO

Her performing in Dubai, a place known for its luxury first and foremost, at a prestigious hotel, for their most luxuries experience yet, for a big sum of money, for a crowd of elite individuals...well this all just is exactly the kind of branding she looks for.

Even her more accessible experiences (Coachella) are delivered in places that are first-of-their class. Coachella is kind of THE icon for festivals, at least in the US, and she used it while presenting herself as a unique figure who exists even beyond the bounds of their branding and purpose.

SO ANYWAY

I think it's less about the money than the entire package of where it is, what the venue is like, who the audience will be, how they're treating her as a gem of the evening, etc. etc. McDonald's could offer her $50 million to perform in one of thier playhouses but I doubt she'd do that because it doesn't fit the entirety of the branding choices she makes now.

Exactly. And she’s done this before like before Glastonbury she did those smaller private shows in France. She’s basically practising for the Grammys/Renaissance tour, it’s her first public performance since 2018 and turning 40 which is quite a pivotal moment in a (especially female) popstars career.

I also feel like it builds international media presence in a unique way, eg her going to India for Ambanis’ daughter wedding was great media coverage for her in India - basically promo she gets paid for, you know all Arab media outlets will cover this tomorrow, especially if she posts a few insta pics. It’s promo/media coverage that allows her to keep her elusive mystique, headlines that focuses on her actual talent and elevate the luxury/power of her brand (singing/performing, instead of going on talk show to try and prove how quirky/relatable she is with some made up story about her kids) AND be paid for the same time...it’s an obvious win-win.

All the mystery, hidden things she is doing is what will allow her to continue to be so popular, so in demand when she reaches the age of other pops stars who faded at the same age. Fans dont have to get it but as an artist her presence has become a very special thing, a RARE thing and as an artist, that's the best position to be in, period.

It's good to know that some get it too!

There's very understandable frustration a lot of the time and I do think she deserves a tugging here and there, but there's a very clear premium approach to her career that I think a lot of stans miss in their want for "more more more, now, now now". She's playing a long game that gifts her the status her fans so love for her, but seem to not get what comes with it (aka: not playing the game the way her faded peers have).

It's an age old reality, but like most luxury brands, it's a simple game of "limit the supply, increase the demand".

Not to sound like an ass-kisser (as I'll be first to drag her when needed), but it blows my mind how many fans who follow her much more than the GP don't..."get it". I guess we all consume her differently.

Maybe she’ll post a snippet of the concert on TikTok in the coming week.
