I honestly think Spotify has a bone to pick with Beyoncé.

Her playlisting is pretty poor on it, and you'd think she'd have more entries on lists like "All Out 2000's" or throwback R&B and Pop playlists, but her hits are barely there.

Her decision to remain exclusive to Tidal while throwing shade at Spotify (essentially bragging that she cares so little about Streaming that she refused to put Lemonade on Spotify) hurt her there in the long run.

It makes no sense that Taylor and Rihanna stream like they do while Beyoncé doesn't. Especially when she pulls in NUMBERS on Apple Music.

She has 7 albums and way too many hits for RENAISSANCE to be pulling in nearly 6M daily, yet she can't crack 10M with the rest of her discography dating back almost 20 years :deadbanana2:

This has to be some sort of trickery because her hits are classics and their total streams are top tier. B'day AND IA...SF are in the Top 10 most streamed female albums of the 00's. You'd think those songs and albums would be pulling in much more than they do.

I want Spotify investigated EXPEDITIOUSLY :cm:

Or she just sabotaged herself when streaming was rising, no ST for over a year, no Lemonade for over 3 years. Her previous hits are fabulous for a throwback. She lost 4 good years of consistency. She’s play-listed pretty well, who knows why Cuff It is still top 3 on TTH.

She’s a 41 year old stubborn auntie now, she doesn’t cater to the young Latin or black community consuming Tik tok and Spotify, she has nothing to say to the silly white girls who eat up their feelings. The older rock/country folks hate her… she just has the casual attention of the GP for throwbacks and us her stubborn dwindling fans. Break My Soul had a great push from Columbia Records and they tried with Cuff It. I seriously doubt it will do any better after the “Christmas freeze”.

DIL/BDay were 2 decades ago, she’s basically Madonna/Whitney/Paula Abdul now. Even Mariah was still only 15 years in when she had her big comeback In 2005 when Beyoncé was the hot thing, Beyoncé is 25 years in.

Homecoming was a decent attempt to bring back attention to her catalog, basically a live GH.

People's perception of Bey's image/brand is just different now. She had the cool edgy factor pre-Lemmy and then went all Mufasa Luther King, contrarian in all career aspects: streaming, pulling live performances off of Youtube, minimal and boring social media. Some people who call her overrated probably have never seen a performance of hers and are usually chalk people who were neutral about her, and eventually became haters for obvious racist reasons. Many of us have been concerned how this would affect her for years and it's kinda showing in the long term, it's also just natural for people to lose interest. She's 41 years old like... much older than Taylor or Rih. Do y'all know how ageist Gen Z are? How they talk about 30 year olds, let alone 40... you'd think they're approaching their death bed.

Renaissance still surprisingly smashed (it could have done better though)... so whatever, she clearly doesn't care. Her discography dates back to 1998 and her peers are nowhere near her. :skull:

Why would the GP care, she isn’t even giving her fans anything. As for her streaming, well that’s her fault. Lemonade should’ve been on Spotify within a month of release and REN should’ve been released in 2019. That long wait from Lemonade 2016 to REN in 2022 didn’t help. Yes she released those side projects, but that was not what her fans wanted. It was the longest wait between albums.

She is too young to be treating her career like this, if she was in her 50’s it would be understandable, this era could’ve been massive if handled right.

She is one of the most playlisted female artist in spotify :gaycat6:

Whether you agree or not her team really pulled every strings to promote renaissance without her need. from tiktok promo to major music consuming services

You cannot compare her with taylor because behives cannot stream the songs like swifties and rihanna has tons of global hits ( like half of them shares with other artists so she gets boost from their fanbase )

She is BEYONCE for gods sake idk why you guys worrying about her stats lol

That playlisting mostly includes Halo. Not someone coming in here talking about strings being pulled with 5 tik tok videos and a simple upload to streaming. I didn't get a notification that Beyonces album dropped on Spotify. Her songs didn't immediately impact radio. Her picture didn't consume the front pages of every imaginable playlist. Get real. If Taylor or Rihanna ever gave such a piss poor rollout yall would riot.

Tired of yall trying to make an argument for some of these girls being more organic with global hits. What they and their teams do is by design and they will ALWAYS put forth maximum exposure to make sure their songs chart well. Beyonce is putting in about 10% effort compared to these girls.

Does Lemonade songs have any playlisting?

We're talking about someone who unlisted the Formation video on YouTube and you literally had to find a link for it. She let Sorry stall right outside the top 10.

Those stunts didn't bode well in the long run. Hive is too grown and Gen Z doesn't have the attention span. So where do we go from here? At this point the lack of archiving her stuff on her main youtube page is hurting her. The only thing she's done "right" this era was open herself back up to radio and do the bare minimum with uploading to streaming. But this is AFTER Tidal flopped and had her named involved in a fraud lawsuit.

Ok y'all relax. Bey always wins in the long run. Has had a bigger, more epic and impactful career than most in history. And in the years most start fading or slowing down bey is still delivering quality like NO other. It's incredible. Renaissance is a hit too and did very well in streaming. It'll take time for her to build back her streaming and Renaissance will help in the long run!

Either way it doesn't matter beyond a certain point. WE get to enjoy quality like no one else. The joy Renaissance gives me is unmatched. I wouldn't trade such excellence even for 1989 level numbers.

Yes she can have both blah blah we've done this commercial vs quality thing before. But she's explained again and again that she's taking the Prince and Sade route - it allows her to prioritize her family and her art - while not being burdened too much by commercial aspects. Even then I don't understand the problem. Even her streaming figures overall are incredible and among the top.

And please remember that Beyoncé's legacy and talent is unmatched. She's in a whole different league altogether. The type that'll stand the entire test of time. Don't let ******* on this website obsessed with every number and statistic distort your perspective. Don't engage the idiots on this site and let them bother you. Streaming matters sure but at the end of the day no where near YOUR joy and experience and the quality being served to us. The other girls don't even have an ST in them and we already on ST-Lem-Renaissance. It's so sickening I can't even process. Y'all talking about stuff like what she should've released and when and where. Please keep quiet. At the end of the day she's an ARTIST and its her process of making her best and her most authentic art. Y'all let numbers really delude your minds and perspectives. There are plenty to stan if you want an artist who makes albums and releases them according to just commercial trivial goals.

Beyoncé puts in 1/10th effort than the other girls??? Maybe in commercial aspects but she puts in her 110% into her art and the other girls could try half of that. I'm convinced if y'all hoes had any say in Beyoncé career, y'all would've tanked her back in 2013.

The real problem is why she lied to us with that damn teaser and hasn't given us a single performance ?

And it's still not lost on me how badly Renaissance's leak spread around. Not only stans but major outlets were bringing way too much attention to it and hurting her first week.

It's been a bumpy era. Not to mention someone had tried to sully her name in some form or fashion every month. The Vogue shoot nails, Kelis, Right Said Fred, the J. Lo mask "theft", the designer who claim they wernt paid.

The commercial aspect of her career is directly her fault, there's no denying that. But like... we're forgetting how long 25 years is. She could have retired at Lemonade and that career is established in a legendary lane. :deadbanana:I always perceive Beyonce the artist and brand, to be a double edged sword. There's several factors to it.

Bey has included polarizing themes in her music and has made herself the poster child for being unapologetically black. She's not meant to appeal to all demographics... like we can't expect everyone to sing "I like my baby heir with baby hair and afros, I like my negro nose with Jackson Five nostrils" in this environment. Is the racism still in the room with us? She doesn't exactly grasp the whites who are the biggest consumers of music. She doesn't exactly appeal to the younger crowd either by going MIA on social media. No one can personably relate to a billionaire and it's really how she has marketed herself during the social media boom. Is that her fault? Yeah. Relatable BadgalRiri has a bigger net worth, yet Beyonce is the poster child for black capitalism and gets daily think pieces written about her. Being the standard and known for being expensive/unattainable, will attract more criticism and they hate to see anyone, let alone a black girl check all of the boxes. On the other side, she gets this Queen status with her music/artistry being more acclaimed than ever, being the celebrity to celebrities while also get hurled at with 'overrated' claims. Numbers are showing that people gravitate to personable/reachable artists: no matter how less talented and polished they are to Beyonce. They want to see themselves in them. Spotify libraries have certainly become an aesthetic nowadays. I wonder if "acoustic" act ii will bring a side of Beyonce we're not used to seeing. :duck:

It's really the 25-35 yo PoC millennials and gays with jobs that keeps her afloat, but we're also busy with our lives to mass buy or mass stream her music. Expecting her to be pulling Taylor numbers or even Rih is just unrealistic. Those girls were accessible, their music was never really anything other than mindless bops with some cute juvenile lyricism here and there. Rih's that token black girl other than Sza the whites add for zest in their white library. They fit the pop girl brand of their era while Bey has always strayed from that. I feel Bey has always been different to others in the numerous stages of her career. Their legacies will tell that when she gets another college course in 50 years. I mean we can worry about daily Spotify numbers 25 years into her career right now, but she will still be known as the greatest female performer and one of the greatest artists to ever do it. They always switch up when they're gone, history always shows that.

Could her numbers be better and could she be less of a elusive Prince-wannabe? Yeah.

Yes. I'm saying 10% on the commercial exposure aspect. People in here trying to use global hits and the argument of "good music" to crap on Beyonces catalog.

People don't understand how psychological music is. There's a reason why Billboard still keeps radio as a metric. The programming from there determines what public spaces like malls, restaurants and clubs play. This in turn makes the casual listener remember and feel connected the the artist. A good song with no push is just that. There's nothing effortless about some of these people with huge global hits. It takes a catchy song but also marketing.

I don't know why you guys care about charts when it comes to her. It would be one thing if she was desperate and obsessed about numbers (like some of her peers that go out of their way to manipulate them through cheap antics) and couldn't still achieve them. But that clearly isn't the case. She just wants to put out music in the world and let it speak it for itself.

Hold Up did in 2019 when it was first released on the platform.

Her playlisting is actually good, I don't know what that user is talking about. It's certainly not just halo... Her weakness is that it's mostly throwbacks versus contemporary stuff (ST onwards)

She would benefit from having more varied tracks in the mix which could appeal outside her usual base like Mine/Haunted/Find Your Way Back/6inch/ Daddy Lessons etc but that would all be a big label push since these songs haven't had any single treatment or success. Again it's all on her decisions this past decade, nothing fishy going on with Spotify

Honestly though. It's kinda true. Radio was always on board when Rih/Tay/Gaga, even Britney and Pink whenever they releases but always refused to play anything by Bey even though chart wise B was much bigger and her album smashes. Even award seasons B will always be the headline and the most talked about celebrities but the radio just said no. The radio even held a listening party for Blackpink and Taylor but barely mention B's album release :rip:

There's no reason to worry about her streams but there's also no reason to try to blame anything beyond Beyoncé herself. Radio is also not breaking an artist anymore. It would be cool if pop radio was supporting her but they didn't play 4 and that "flop" album pulls more streams than Lemonade (that was released in 2016) and is on par with ST. :rip:

What matters is to make your music live (as in breathe not the opposite of recorded). Lemonade didn't get to actually live, breathe. That album, despite having no singles available anywhere, manages some of the highest peaks of her career ww. But she refused to make the music known and accessible to the masses.

Most artists starts stalling when they get older because beyond the age, the truth is the passion and hunger are almost gone, they think they know better than everyone and do things their own way even when no one wants it, they play it safe or they lose the musical edge. Most legends get there, Beyoncé still has the musical edge, it's actually increasing and she refuses to play it safe musically but the rest is almost gone. If she becomes a flop, it won't be because of 25 years in the industry or 41 years old because contrary to most artists at that point, she still has a lot of commercial viability that she purposely hinders massively. Again it's her prerogative. But a Mariah Carey, a Ciara, a Jlo with the interest that Renaissance had and the same songs would make so much more out of it but the truth is, they would not make Renaissance. You win some, you lose dome lol.

Also, I don't get that comment about the TikTok push. :rip:Where? Cuff It went viral organically and no other songs has been pushed there. The only thing she posted was a video collage of BMS.

Anyway, on important matters. The album still slays.

My top 5 barely changed but each week I would find myself with songs that I was connecting more to but lately my top 5 just hit me the same as first week.

I also had a month or so where I was sick of BMS but what an anthem, really. I really wonder how it's going to be on tour.

Of course, AHAP remains one of the best songs of ALL TIME!!

non of this makes any sense as things stand today.... she usually has a big event to crate hype and then announces the dates. now she has nothing, she killed all the hype there was. so im not sure what the strategy is, if there is any. had she handled this era half decently she would have had a sold out tour immediately.

i just do not know how she will sell out stadiums in say continental europe where her star power diminished, the album came and quickly went, other acts announced their tours ....

at this point, why do we care? Let her sing to half-empty stadiums if thats her plan :fan: Makes it easier to grab tickets and maybe makes her understand that Tina Turner did way (!) more promo in her 50s than Bey is doing now to ensure those touring stats.

You can't do anything and expect everything all the time. That's not how it works and maybe she needs a lesson.

Then again, shes a billionaire, she wont care.
