Instead of complaining can we talk about the cozy-alien superstar transition I’ve been obsessed with it for like a week or two now :jonny4:

I’m definitely going to disagree on that and it’s reflective of their touring numbers. I was talking to a group of friends, they’re not plugged in to the stan world at all. They’re more on the mature side and they all agreed that they would see Beyoncé live more so than Rihanna simply because of the former’s performance and musical prowess.

Most people would agree that Beyoncé is a better performer.

I'm just not going for this.

Bey is all about her COINS.

Her caring about sales is a very easy to see when looking at it like this:

The widespread consumption (sales) of her music is the vehicle that gets her to where she gets her real $$$$$...touring, streaming deals, fashion partnerships etc. Sure, her name has a certain level of built-in clout, but these corporations she keeps teaming with absolutely care about her commercial viability, so she for sure will too. Being successful and "causing conversation" in the culture are vital ingredients to her sustainability as a MPG and her wider income flow.

It's also what her claims to being "Queen Bey" rests on. You're not Queen with 50k first week and a flop single. You are however 330k first week, a #1 two decades into career, and an album shaking up the scene four months after release. A #1 her team pushed for.

This lack of visuals really is distorting the reality of the matter. Y'all haven't seen "art not charts" from a huge star til you've seen a Prince roll-out (or lack-there of).

Edit: We also KNOW she isn't sitting at doing nothing in her PJs. Huge shoots have taken place and while we are all frustrated about the lack of info, we can't pretend she's doing nothing when she's likely in an editing bay right now. I can't run with this lazy or idle Bey narrative some are peddling when it's factually not true. Even with the current Ren situation.

you can write as many thesis as you want...i don't believe it. where's Beyonce been for the last 4 months?? i want THAT question answered first. there's theories and then there's real life actions to back it up.

and no...putting out basic dance remixes (which she's always done) for a dance song does not scream cOmMerCiaL sucCesS. these were not "Savage" or "Mi Gente" type of remix moments.

if this era showing that Beyonce is pressed for commercial success...then what have yall been complaining so much about exactly??

make it make sense

I feel like Bey cares about success but she's clearly not going to over extend herself to achieve it. And I kinda respect it. Not to name names but some artists care way too much about holding on to their commercial peak. They chase way too many trends and come off as inauthentic as artists.

It's frustrating cause Bey can clearly be bugger than what she is. Literally selling in step with Harry who has the biggest album released in 2022 behind Bad Bunny. These are these guys peak. Bey is just coasting.

I have a feeling that when she does drop the visuals, alot of people outside of fans would've already moved on. But they're definitely working for the long run.

Even some fans will if it’s actually going to take a whole year. It makes no sense. Visuals and tour should be announced by now. Is it really complaining to want this? I don’t think so.

I think they're being re-edited, so they keep touching them up. I still don't think they're completely satisfied with everything personally.

Renaissance down to #32 (-25) in the UK midweeks :doc:

That’s just abysmal. She’s really dropped the ball in the UK this era. She should be absolutely smashing.

Shade lol.

At the end of the day, I'm equal parts interested in Bey, the industry at large, and the business of music.

Your responses seem respectfully guided by emotion / stan logic and not anything rooted in actual data or a broader understanding of how the mechanics of music industry work.

Beyonce is not disproportionately lucky. BMS going to #1 was the culmination of a concerted label push. Same with Cuff It's current success. Songs don't magically appear on playlists or get played on radio. There are real (actual) people and teams that make that happen. The means of doing this comes from a budget that is designed to ensure...success.

When those components are missing, then she'll be "art not charts".

The visuals thing is admittedly crazy and she's not doing "enough" atm, but the "unbothered, lazy, leaving album to rot" narrative is an emotionally childish reach.

I think as long as she doesn’t wait too long, she’ll be fine. As a matter a fact it’s building anticipation more. I’ve seen viral tweets about it almost every day.. especially when the rap girlies are feuding.Happy So Excited GIF by TikTok

I don't really like the "impact" argument when it definitely can be measured when statistics exist. Bey's Formation performance is iconic, but it doesn't even match her actual half time performance. Stan goggles off, I think Gaga, Shakira/JLo did terrific. Now Bey is one of the most culturally and prolific artists to ever grace the music industry, but I think we reach a little sometimes. :skull:  Formation is a fan favorite and will be mentioned within the Hive, but it's receiving piss poor streams given the sabotage and the MV initially being delisted for a year makes it hard for it to be remembered down the line when it didn't even reach it's max potential: no radio, no streaming exposure, MV not accessible. The release of This is America is what Formation was supposed to be had it not been treated poorly. Break My Soul and Cuff It being smashes, has a far greater chance with the GP and being mentioned if they were asked to name her songs if we're being completely honest. :skull:

There is 16 new albums :sistrens: it’s expected. She is doing nothing to promote it.

She is on the singles charts, but the album will benefit more from single streams once there is a 3rd/4th song on the album doing well since BMS/CUff It are being discounted from album streams.

on a yacht, going to her favorite restaurants, and throwing parties for her rich friends in NYC, LA and Paris.

Bey definitely cares about success. She kinda has no choice given that she is running a company and put an insane amount of money into her projects and clothes. Her approach is just a little different compared to others but she is very much about that life.

Tell the UK to fix their dumb*ss chart rules :rip:

Honestly the only thing that truly irks me is her teasing the visuals and then completely ignoring that they were even teased in the first place. We needed a date or time window of release at the very least and the lack of any idea about it’s release after MONTHS is unacceptable

Remember when everyone screamed at that one person who said “October” in like august…

Rennie the film ain’t coming this year

i am HIGHLY skeptical (like EXTREMELY!!) a tour is coming next year

This s**ts lookin grim yall

That rule might appear dumb but it's the same for everyone.

The album is not doing as well as it could because she does nothing with it, let's be honest.

Also we BMS/CI/AS removed, that means Energy or SR is carrying the album there. :rip:

Edit : I think it gives a better sense of how albums themselves are performing contrary to the US.

Sometimes I read this thread, and I wonder what the AOL music forums looked like in 1997 for Prince fans. :priceless:

This base is a waste for of time. If I was a mod I’d lock it until…. Something significant happens. The truth is, we can all make the choice to treat things that way, except we are here doing the same thing day in day out week in week out.

with that being said .. Byiieeee
