And 2 weeks from now...whose to say there won't be another song that suddenly gains traction!?! then what...ya'll pivot there?? lol

1. That is statistically very unlikely :rip:

2. That's why you consider other factors around the song:

For instance even when AS was outstreaming Cuff It, I personally always maintained that Cuff It is far more GP friendly (the most GP friendly on the album). It appeals to both pop and urban listeners. It's a feel good song that isn't too "cunty hunty" for the basics. Therefore I always found it a perfect fit for the next single.

If Church Girl was some undeniable sounding hit or had ton of GP appeal, while Cuff It was some obvi album track-esque song I would support her decision to overlook the "going with the wind streams", but when the song with undeniably the most GP appeal is also the song currently smashing the most... :deadbanana4:

Inb4 you quote with "who cares what is GP friendly" as if the whole point of releasing a single isn't to get success :rip:

Maybe they believe in the Church Girl video that much. Maybe they think it can go viral.

I can see a video for Church Girl being more fun than one for Cuff It.

But either, I'm still in awe of how stupid they are if they really are sending just Church Girl to radios.

Church Girl is the worst song on the album, it seems like a lot of people feel that way. Very interesting that she wants to push that one.. who is her manager? :thing:

To my follow ATRL nemesis @giRLbye.giRLby who still lives in the 2000s:

We now live in the world of streaming and social media. People nowadays are content creators, using music as a means to support their own content and living. If they start a trend and it hits, this can very likely snowball. These type of trends are however NEVER guaranteed and some last a week whereas others last for months. U can have the most wonderful song and without a Trend, itll die. U can have a trash song and with a trend it'll stick for months. The impact of Radio and TV has decreases tremendously and only plays part in terms of chart positions. However the real measurement for popularity is streams.

Now u have songs like AS and Cuff It who manage or managed to go viral thanks to content users using them. This was not thanks to anyone pushing anyone, but the people chosing. They both have climbed the latter of popularity with Cuff It now reaching new peaks as of now.

This usually is the biggest indicator of a hit, simply because the people aka ur consumers having VOLUNTARILY chosen the song they liked.

Going for Church Girl now, a song that has been pushed on streaming platforms the day the album got released and which STILL was overshadowed by AS and Cuff It despite that push, which has now pretty much died of ever since (even being almost outstreamed by the 6-min song Virgos Groove these days) is not a genius strategy. Its also not clever. It also wont do anything for the album because the people already made their choice.

It is, let me spell it out for u (and ur team), d-u-m-b.

Stop saying they, them or whatever. This is a Beyoncé’s album. All those weird, dumb, nonsensical decisions are hers.

the hysteria is just comical...that's all

idgaf...the 2nd single does NOTHING for me & i dont understand what it does for yall...i can play WHICHEVER song i want from the album. the rest is irrelevant.

At this rate, why not?

If Church Girl can get 2nd single treatment, I should pray for America Has A Problem after Thique. It's way radio/listener friendly than both.

!!!

Might as well, good thing Renaissance has a lot of single worthy tracks.

now everybody is a Cuff It girl when it wasnt long ago that people were heavily championing AS as the 2nd single

all these go wherever the wind blows choices...no wonder they not taking it seriously

I mean….at this point they are just pulling names out of a hat to pick singles so Team Parkwood ain’t much better ?

Maybe cuff it will be the global pop single and church girl is just for urban idk I’m just glad we’re getting another single. The visuals must be soon :lakitu:

begged, cried, and pleaded in anguish for a 2nd single...now its here & still throwing up

can't relate

*plays Move*

Wasn’t Summer Ren being sent to radio at one point too and they pulled it? Hopefully they do the same here

So lemme get this straight, your own label is excited and optimistic of a song that clearly went viral, Cuff it eventually gaining the traction it deserved, and she releases Church Girl as the single…? She is hopeless. If this is some sort of sick game where she wants to act edgy and go against the norm you failed the assignment Gisselle. We literally do not care.

This is gonna serve RTW she’ll shove it down our throats and it’ll still bomb. Can’t even be upset it’s just normal at this point to expect her clownery

Imagine Bruno Mars not releasing Uptown Funk, Rihanna not releasing WFL, Katy Perry not releasing Firework, and Lady Gaga not releasing Bad Romance.

That’s what this is. I’ve never seen an artist fumble their own legacy this hard before.

Church Girl is in no way the worst song on the album when Thique and I'm That Girl exist, as well as polarizers such as AHAP and AUIYM.

That said, pushing it over Cuff It or Alien is just dumb af. Like, I can't even defend the shenanigans.

Church Girl, to me, is along the lines of Heated. Lots of single potential...later down the line. The hit-potential IS there, but it does not pack the urgency of CI or AS.

I'm 100% here for her being dragged for this TERRIBLE decision. "CUFF IT" is taking off globally and is exploding on TikTok. Instead of taking advantage of this, she's chosen to send one of the post polarising songs on the album to radio. Despite the fact that the GP were disinterested in it when it was on TTH already. Ridiculous.

Church IS the worst song on the album. It’s one of the worst songs of her career and totally beneath her.

Y’all need to drag Beyoncé by her scalp. I’m NOT defending her behavior anymore. I’m sick of her antics. This hag could not be this clueless.

Which songs have been pulled out of hats. Since the beginning everyone was in agreement that it should be AS or CI. No other song was pushed by the Hives.

People were saying AS is too risky so let's lead with CI and others were saying AS is viral now so let's release both or go first with AS. There has never been any other choice.

And people pretending not to care now where the ones really anxious that AS will destroy all the good will BMS restored for Beyoncé on Pop radio. :rip:

I know all that, I was around for the AS/CI debates. The “they” in my comment was directed at Parkwood/Beyoncé not this base.
