If it has peaked in radio (which can be not true since it only got one negative update in pop) means her audience hasn’t been bigger than now, it’s the time to actually push the BMS video so it can have another week at #1.

It's had pretty middling updates on radio for the last week or so, it's around its peak now and will start to decline. I'm not saying we need to rush another single right now, but to completely write it off seems short-sighted. "ALIEN SUPERSTAR" can definitely start to be pushed on radio, for example.

Absolutely. I remember mentioning how much I love how she references songs in others on my 1st or 2nd day of listening here or in the album's thread. 

It's indeed disappointing to me that critics didn't put much emphasis on that, a lot of these connections are subtle but I don't understand how the connection between I'm That Girl and AHAP wasn't discussed in all reviews since it's not subtle and almost in your nose. 

 

She literally starts the album with ITG setting the sexual tone of the whole record saying she doesn't need drugs to do freaking ****,  she's high all the time,  it's her un-American life. And in a song called America Has a Problem she makes one of the best metaphor ever comparing herself to a drug dealer and that her love/body/sex (drug) can get him high high and there is no way to go high-er than with her. 

 

I wonder if there were a version of the album where ITG opened and AHAP closed the album.

Nothing “short-sighted” about it. Things take time, and they already sent three songs to radio and they didn’t pick up because BMS was still being played. There’s really no need to rush things, if a song will be a hit there it’ll be regardless. With that said, I don’t see Alien Superstar getting the BMS radio support and it won’t have another push other than the video.

BMS is the only song that has been sent to radio so far. "SUMMER RENAISSANCE" is being serviced to Pop, but there's been no impact date yet. I think "ALIEN SUPERSTAR" could get radio play and it's clearly resonating with the GP, looking at its streaming performance, so I think wasting the opportunity would be a shame. I personally think BMS has a few weeks left to continue smashing, then a second single could be pushed.

Well, then we agree. I just want her to give Break My Soul those weeks of proper focus. Looking forward, we’re not getting many moments like this in which she dominates the singles chart. She’s still Beyoncé: having her in the top 10 in pop radio is a rarity and not the new normal for her singles. 

BMS can’t go any higher on Rhythmic or Urban AC. Pop and Urban have been giving tepid updates and today are declining. Even if it’s performance wobbles for a more couple weeks, it’s essentially peaked. 
 

Drop the visuals this weekend and simultaneously officially start adds date for the next single. If BMS can go to #1 again it will. it’s got the airplay and a head start on streams and that would be it’s last chance. But the 2nd single should coincide with the drop of the visuals.

I don't think starting to push a new single will completely kill BMS and if it does it'd be because the song doesn't have much life left. 

Harry Styles' AIW is returning to #1 although they started pushing his second single almost at the same time as BMS was released, now he has two songs in the top 10. Bad Bunny also had two top 15/10 a while ago. 

 

The album needs to stabilize too and tbh BMS' streaming performance alone is not enough to keep it afloat.

Beyoncé isn’t new to pushing two singles at once. BMS already got the #1 and since she doesn’t seem interested in releasing a visual to push it for another week then we might as well move on to the next single and give it a chance to reach its potential.

I understand why people want the videos on YouTube so you can easily go watch your favs, but in terms of creating a moment, YouTube would be a total flop. 

I think we're pushing it if the visual is dropping on Netflix this weekend, though... I really think it would've been announced by now.

 

Maybe we'll get the BMS video or full I'm That Girl this weekend and then a date for the release

I’m on the fence with the Netflix thing. I feel like Netflix would want to announce ahead of time to draw in buzz. 
 

I guess it’s possible if the film isn’t coming Saturday, but later. They may drop a trailer for the film soon.

 

But seeing as that hasn’t happened yet (Netflix announcing it as theirs), if we’re holding out hope for the 8/20 Easter egg, I can’t see how that and a Netflix release would happen this weekend.

I also have been trying to figure out ish using Netflix's protocol, but it's hard. They've been stanning Renaissance before launch, during launch, and now after. But nothing. 

 

If the August 20 thing really was an Easter egg (which I still hope it is), I also would have expected us to have definitive word by now or a Netflix trailer earlier this week. 

 

At the same time, they have done random surprise drops recently such as Dave Chappelle. That said, because we've all already heard Renaissance, I personally would not get the point of a surprise drop. 

 

It dropping on Netflix is a given, just hope it's soon.

Well the Lemonade trailer had 4/23 on it.

 

Also if you look at the British Vogue shoot - the clock she was in front of had 16 slots (for 16 songs).

 

I don’t feel like that 8/20 date was there for no reason when she did not have a date on any other lyric video.

I know this is awful to say and I used to stutter when I was a kid but that woman stuttering at the end of Alien Superstar is not the tea. I always feel like she’s about to pass out

Idk…I mean it’s more humanizing than off putting IMO. Even the slight hesitations in some of what the trans woman was saying in that sound bite add a bit of realism to the words themselves. And the nuances and effects used help blend into the soundscape of the songs overall essence.

The last two songs totals 00:09:21 so that’s not it either.
