like I get scrapping the tun deluxe but an entire video that has already been shot is just too much

I always lowkey worry something personal is going on behind the scenes, but I just remember to respect her privacy and that she always hated promo. I just wish she was still as communicative and interactive with us as before.

So because a bunch of Sweetener songs have been leaked I was thinking about this. 

It has has been clear that "every time" and "better off" are about Mac, and Ariana has mentioned they had a tumultuous relationship. "incline" is likely the first draft of "every time". 

 

Mac and Ariana started dating in Aug 2016 and broke up in May 2018. 

 

So why is it that: 

better off: July 2016 recorded 

clarity: aug 18 2016

every time: ?

like I assume all of these are about Mac but it's surprising to me that better off was recorded before they even started dating. I guess she just applied it to their relationship afterwards? But that's surprising to me because fans have linked it so closely to him.
