what does this have to do with total sales though? I get you can talk about popularity each week for the charts. Then you could argue that even if its the same fans its still the most popular that week. But an albums total sales is another ball game. Its supposed to reflect how widespread an albums appeal is. Now its a weird mixture of sales and accumalitive weekly streams. I dont care how many times a fan listens to an album. And I dont need it being reflected in TOTAL album sales.

Sam is heading for a full week on top. Definitely overperforming. Not in sales numbers maybe but in slaying the competition.

Well that is your opinion. I don't agree with that opinion at all. I much rather have people actually listening to an album than just buying it and putting it on a shelf somehwhere. Or buying it for 1 or 2 songs like pre iTunes days and hypothetically if 1 person creates $100 revenue that's obviously better than 9 persons creating $10 revenue each.

But again I think you overrate those "same persons listening to it". 1 streaming equivalent album are 1500 streams. That's really a lot...

Taylor is expected to do numbers similar to Adele.

I've been told by ATRL for almost two years now that Adele and Taylor are in the same lane when sales are in question. And coming from the most successful era in her career (as was Adele in 2015) Taylor was supposed to explode with her sales (the comeback was hyped intensely).

The problem is that GP is not here for LWYMMD, which is evident from the song bleeding in streaming and sales, and the radio support not being overwhelming.

LWYMMD stats:

- Sales - 353k in week 1, 114k in week 2 (- 68%), estimated 79k in week 3 (- 30%)

- Spotify - 17 million in week 1, 10.2 million in week 2 (-40%), estimated 7.3 million in week 3 (- 29%)

Hm lets not go THAT far. she's not in adeles league as much as her fans like to think she is. 1.1 million was never on the cards(or whatever silly 2017 equivelant they were suggesting using that wonky deflation ATRL calculator) and 3.38 million is not a remote possibility for her album. Even with phony SPS numbers.

She is considered as the closest one to Adele (and by many thought of as being in the same league). There were even some comments on ATRL recently, when LWYMMD was released, that 25's sales record is not safe. :michael:

Are people really going to act dense and pretend being on hottracks or the discounted front page isn't extreme exposure :rip:

No one said that Taylor will do Adele numbers, but okay :)

But if certain people admitted that then they would no longer have a "reason" to constantly be downplaying Taylor's numbers and comparing her to Adele all the time, which would kind of just make them a little obsessed, no?

Flop.

There is only 2 people in ATRL who really thoight Taylor wad able to do Adele numbers and they are just daying that to be able to call her a flop now. Same with that reputation selling 3M, everybody was laughing about HDD ib that thread, nobody thinks is possible

Taylor did 910k SPS first week. What were you expecting? A 10% drop second week? :ahh:

The couple of pressed souls get funnier everyday when they just come here trying to do something  to make her look like a flop after crying every morning when they wake up and fastly check kworb to see that she is still top 5 with 2 songs. Buy a life, you care more about her than her stans.

I miss those quite times when despacito was atop and there was no stan wars about how badly taylor is flopping (like for real, she is smashing), like sam is flopping (he has a very good comeback) and other things.

right!

Sam is still number one? I never even thought he would hit number one in the first place. :jonny:

I'm happy for him. I genuinely thought he would fall in the 25k sales range first week but he could do like 100k. Slay a bit. :clap3:

right? this sam smith vs taylor swift thing has killed the fun in the itunes thread. :rip:

Taylor may not be in Adeles league sales wise but no one is.  She did however snatch several of Hello's records.  She is the closest person who can take Adele down one way or the other.  That's why her fans might think she's in her league...and oh, she always out earns her.

Taylor as an artist is in her own league and the only reason why she and Adele are ever compared is so haters can shade with sales.  Someone once said McDonalds also sells tons of burgers, does not make them better.  Haha

Yeah Sam holding one pretty good.  Were it not for ready 4 it, Taylor would likely never have been dethroned.  She is splitting sales between two songs. Sam should send her flowers.  I guess Taylor is considered burger king.  Adele is McDonalds.

I completely agree, blame those members who continuously troll in this thread every. day. trying to shade Taylor in every one of their posts :lmao:

And it's not even Sam vs. Taylor, these people are making it about Adele vs. Taylor, it's so tired :toofunny3:

37. Dua Lipa - New Rules

I hope her team have promo lined up. This has so much potential to smash and become an anthem.

As for that other post attacking Adele just let me leave a quote:

Quote

“What have I said no to? Everything you can imagine. Literally every-f–king-thing. Books, clothes, food ranges, drink ranges, fitness ranges… That’s probably the funniest. They wanted me to be the face of a car. Toys. Apps. Candles. It’s, like, I don’t want to endorse a line of nail varnishes, but thanks for asking. A million pounds to sing at your birthday party? I’d rather do it for free if I’m doing it, cheers…”

Girl, you're doing too much here, there's no need to drag Adele herself :tsk:

Adele is awesome :heart2:

Edited by Headlock

That wasn't an Adele drag.  That post was spot on.  I said no one is in Adele's league sales wise, what more do you want?  And I was responding to the post above saying her fans think she's in Adele's league.  Didn't quote because that member is Taylor pressed and I could never change his mind, so why quote him......rentboy.
