Surprised nobody in here has mentioned that the front page of US iTunes has changed. "Hot Tracks" and "Great 69c Songs" are both gone, and in their place are "Best Of The Week" (which seems to focus on new releases way more than Hot Tracks did) and "Zane Lowe's World Record" (I guess songs picked by Zane Lowe or songs commonly featured on his Apple Music show?)

Without the front page exposure the 69c songs won't see that great of a boost anymore. Surprised Apple got rid of it.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's a decrease in discounts now. I remember reading an article a few months ago (it was either by Billboard or HDD) about how a lot of labels choose to discount songs specifically because they know it will give the song front page exposure.
