Maybe it will. Periodically, slow ballads are big hits. I feel like it has been a long time since a slow love ballad was a big hit unless you count Shallow. It feels overdue and the GP might choose Lover to fill the void.

You can’t really blame them tbh. Some of them haven’t been stanning since before 2010 and thus don’t even know a world in which Taylor Swift doesn’t debut with over a million in sales. They’ll eventually come to terms and realize that this is a different music industry than it was and that these numbers are fantastic.

I predict she’ll end up at 962,000 SPS for the final numbers.

It’s time to let go of pure sales sis... if she were to do 1 million SPS or near that in 2019 it would be just as impressive (if not more impressive) as 1 million pure 5-10 years ago and just as valid.

1989 was I think the last album to debut before the streaming era so its numbers are accurate.

Cool thread, but I think I have a correction. Why are Adele’s 25 and Taylor’s Reputation just pure sales debuts while Drake’s Views for example includes SEA and TEA? If it’s total SPS then 25’s numbers should be 3,480,000 and rep’s numbers should be 1,238,000. Thx @Cherry123

I was driving on the interstate through Iowa today and Tulsi has these giant billboards along the road. I was so mesmerized by the sheer size of these billboards that I nearly ran off the road. Lots of yard signs as well... advertising on point.
