No my big issue with streaming is the huge repeat business factor from the SAME FANS. It totally distorts total sales. Especially when we know fans stream like crazy just to pump up numbers. I dont care so much regards singles but album total sales are now a joke when they include SPS. I include Eds in that too but at least he has strong WW pure sales total as well. But the streaming added numbers are largely same fans streaming every week. And they get just get added on to the total every week. It gives misleading totals. With real sales you could roughly assume 8 mill sales meant 8 mill bought it. But 8 mill SPS sales now can mean half those numbers are from same fans streaming weekly. Far more with stream powerhouses like Drake.

And it's way more accurate than before. No idea how you can be against that. Album certifications before are bad because we don't know how often a person listens to an album after they bought it.... If I like an album that much that I still listen to it 3 years later, that's really impressive and I think it's great that certifications now reflect that to an extent and will even more so the more people move to streaming.

The 1 sale and that's it was so terrible inaccurate

That's what people were saying about Taylor when her numbers were shamed.  It's still more then anybody sold for the ENTIRE YEAR and more then anyone has sold in nearly two years.  She had record breaking streams and the people complaining and number shaming ignored her streams.  Those same people are praising Sam's tiny numbers the hypocrisy is real.  He's doing okay but nothing great at all.  The over the top praise (from people critical of Taylor) is funny.   

 

 

"Can't Stop The Feeling" wasn't released nearly 2 years ago  And the surprising part, really, is her quick downfall and lack of stabilization. But anyways, "Despacito" still top 10 combined. I wonder how big its Holidays boosts will be. It might finish the year with over 2.65M copies sold

And all signs have pointed to her releasing the second single sometime in October, and it seems like a given that we'll get at least one more promo single as well.

She could have 4 top 10s (including two #1s ) from Reputation before it's even released

what does this have to do with total sales though? I get you can talk about popularity each week for the charts. Then you could argue that even if its the same fans its still the most popular that week. But an albums total sales is another ball game. Its supposed to reflect how widespread an albums appeal is. Now its a weird mixture of sales and accumalitive weekly streams. I dont care how many times a fan listens to an album. And I dont need it being reflected in TOTAL album sales.
