I get the popstar theme, every song is a bop and deserves it's place on this album.

I'm so proud of her growth, this era really needs to go viral cause it's too damn good.

Just finished my first listen and it's a Tinashe album, so ofc it's very solid and there's a lot of interesting stuff on there, but I can't lie, I will definitely need more time with this one... First of all, I'm surprised by how mellow and chill almost all of the album tracks were - I was not expecting that based on the singles. Honestly, with most tracks my reaction was "wow, this is pretty and interesting", but the only new track that immediately clicked with me on first listen was Nobody Wanna Dance Anymore. Twentyfive Eight was probably my second fave and then Sunglasses/Brainrot/Cloud 9 were really solid too. I'm sure I'll love it after more listens, but yeah, this is not very instant for me just based on one listen.

Oh also, I don't understand some of the sequencing choices tbh.

Like, Melatonin -> Empty Stadium and especially the Flashbacks -> Overdramatic -> I'd Rather Be Alone -> Crash Out run gave me whiplash

I agree with everyone saying "it's another Tinashe album" which is actually a lot 'cause she's always extremely consistent.

This makes no exception, it's another great album from her. BUT the bar was raised too high with Melatonin, and you can't help but feel that this whole record could have been way better had she pushed herself more out of her comfort zone.

It also has a couple of fillers tbh.

Surprisingly, this might be her most ambitious project sonically. I can definitely hear experimental Janet all over the album cuts.

I never expected her "popstar" album to sound so nuanced and edgy, but I guess that's what makes it her version of a popstar.

I am curious on what yall expecting. Where yall expecting Bjork or something? It's a Tinashe record ofcourse it will sound like it. WTF?

I really liked the album even if it's not necessarily anything groundbreaking for her. Outside of the singles, Sunglasses, Empty Stadium, and Twentyfive Eight were highlights for me.

Haven't listened yet, why is nobody talking about the title track ?? Is it good ?

Highlights from my first initial listen are Brainrot, Nobody Wanna Dance Anymore, Sunglasses & Popstar for album tracks. I can see people hating on Flashbacks though since it's very minimalistic in production like Red Flags from Quantum Baby.

Nobody Wanna Dance Anymore is probably the gag of the album for a lot of people. Overall it's a solid album but the short duration of some of the tracks kinda leaves you wishing it could've been longer to flesh it out more since it feels like it moves on too quick from it, particularly I'd Rather Be Alone & Brainrot tracks.

really liked Flashbacks, Nobody Wanna Dance Anymore, and Brainrot

overall I'm whelmed but I gotta sit with it some more
