Janet Jackson
Janet is supposedly filming a special one-off concert this December to celebrate Control 40th anniversary as well as a career retrospective of her catalogue. The venue arena has posted it on their instagram account, and a (now deleted) press release provided more info on its planned global release for cinemas, and then later on major streaming platforms. https://www.instagram.com/p/Db8Zg_0p3f5/ The (deleted) press release ...watch it just be her 2025 Vegas shows production and setlist filmed for cinema release, and for her and Randy to just profit off of it while continuing to ignore releasing any new music
- Janet is the only MPG without an album with over +500m streams, injustice?

Spotify: Janet Jackson | Someone To Call My Lover hits 100M streams
At this point, it's a miracle she even has multiple 100M streamed songs on Spotify because as previous posters have mentioned, her management team are really lazy and unwilling to put in any work in pushing her legacy to the new generation on a global scale, as in getting a lot of her 80s and other 90s songs onto more Spotify playlists around the world which increases daily streams and monthly listeners as well as re-certifying her albums with the RIAA. When Someone To Call My Lover went viral organically on TikTok, it peaked at around 750k daily streams and over 1 year later, it still gets over 100k daily streams thanks to the lingering effects of it. Before that, I think it was getting like less than 10k daily streams. But anyway, glad this song has finally reached the 100M milestone as it's way better than All For You imo and finally got its own recognition with Gen Z.

Why Michael/Janet and Madonna/Britney still feel like a underperformance?
Scream is more known for the music video (most expensive ever made) than the actual song itself as demonstrated by its youtube numbers compared to its Spotify streaming numbers, where I guess most people are curious to check it out once or twice and then forget about it. Like MATM, it underperformed/flopped in the US but was a global hit outside of America.

Janet Jackson x BE:FIRST - "Doesn't Really Matter" (2026 Remix)
I believe so since for digital singles in Japan, their tracking week starts on a Monday while physical CD, DVD & Blu-ray releases begins their tracking week on Wednesdays. The song was released on Thursday midnight/Friday morning so it will only have 3 days sales tracking counted for the upcoming chart. I'm not familiar on BE:FIRST's digital singles release history if all their top 10's & #1 singles were released on Mondays or not, but let's hope those 3 day sales will be enough for a top 10 debut, if not, hopefully at least a top 20.

I smell a top 10 debut incoming on the Oricon singles chart for Janet

Janet Jackson x BE:FIRST - "Doesn't Really Matter" (2026 Remix)
The song is currently #1 on iTunes Japan, not that it means much in terms of huge sales but at least it's a mini success straight out of the gate in Japan

And yet to think 10 years ago...she was known to be CANCELLING tours, my how things have changed

Janet Jackson x BE:FIRST - "Doesn't Really Matter" (2026 Remix)
This remix collab with BE:FIRST will hopefully introduce Janet to the new generation of Japanese kids/teenagers because this Japanese boy band has had much success and popularity in the country for the past few years with that audience. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Be_First They've had 2 #1 albums, 1 #1 single and 8 top 10 singles on the Oricon charts. Pretty successful boy band I say. ...and if this remix somehow manages to chart in the top 10 there, then Janet will get her first ever top 10 single in Japan! Her highest position on the Oricon singles chart was this same song released back in 2000 at #33

Janet Jackson x BE:FIRST - "Doesn't Really Matter" (2026 Remix)
I've listened to it a few times now and while much of the melody and vocal arrangement is the same (newly recorded vocals though I assume), there's a new verse sung in Japanese by BE:FIRST and lo-fi beat/trap breakdown towards the end. Don't really know what to make of that new breakdown at the moment but at least she's somewhat expanding/getting exposure to the more younger Japanese kids as BE:FIRST appears to be gaining popularity in Japan.

Janet Jackson x BE:FIRST - "Doesn't Really Matter" (2026 Remix)
Brand new 2026 remix of Doesn't Really Matter by Janet with a collaboration of a Japanese boy band called BE:FIRST to coincide with her 2026 Japan tour that started a few days ago, already out in Australia & New Zealand on Spotify and will come out midnight local time in other countries.

18 consecutive top 10 singles on the Hot 100 held by Janet https://web.archive.org/web/20220114140822/https://www.billboard.com/pro/janet-jackson-miss-you-much-top-10-streak-hot-100-rewinding-charts/ Even Billboard agrees that it will be hard to break in the streaming age

Songs meant for / passed on / taken by Janet Jackson (Master-list)
Here's one more song that Janet covered that I remembered. Weekend, a cover of Debbie Deb's 1984 song "Look Out Weekend". Originally put up on Janet's official website as a surprise gift for her fans just before the 20 Y.O. era. It was meant to be a taste of the direction of the 20 Y.O. album was going in (dance music) celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Control album, but received backlash and negative feedback from her fans when it was put up, thus making her change direction and get her boyfriend at the time, Jermaine Dupri, to steer it into a more hip-hop and R&B sound

Songs meant for / passed on / taken by Janet Jackson (Master-list)
Janet did a cover of The Jacksons song, One More Chance, released as a B-side to the If single during the janet. era She also did an unreleased cover of Joni Mitchell's Beat Of Black Wings that was meant for a Joni Mitchell covers tribute compilation album, but didn't make the final cut for some reason. The song eventually got leaked.
