30 by Adele aging poorly or forgotten?

Featured Replies

My favorite was her debut, before she blew up and became overexposed. I couldn't stand her after that.

It's aging well, just mostly ignored at this point in time. It would be amazing if the album had a Tiktok-fueled resurgence because some of the songs deserve a revisit.

This album is totally forgotten EXCEPT for the lead, Easy On Me, which is quietly becoming one of her signature songs. It's her 2nd most streamed song on Spotify (2.4B), only preceded by Someone Like

it's her best album but not as streaming friendly/ replayable. she said arts not charts and still got a multiplatinum smash era and the #1 IFPI album of 2021 in her flop era so

I only listened to it the one time whenever it very first released. I had to Google it to remember what singles were released from it. Her albums usually stick with me, but that one didn't.

It's aging gracefully, one of her more consistent records. heart2

Easy On Me was just so commercially huge it sort of swallowed up majority of the single success from the era but that's fine the album still sold millions WW.

The IMMENSE DROP OFF in streams for a high profile release fully in the streaming/covid era.

25 was a much more physical release and has 4 songs over 1 billion and 2 over 800 million.

The replay value proves to be more and more non-existent over time. There's nothing classic about this album. Could the public even hum a bar from any of these after Easy on Me?

Easy On Me - 2,463,164,665

Oh My God - 677,241,465

Woman Like Me - 88,522,205

Imo it's her best album quality wise as it's more consistent even if it doesn't have the highs of 21/25.

I think it's just ignored because 21/25 and Chasing Pavements were just gargantuan.

Almost all the album tracks having 100M streams is impressive, not the drag you think it is. rip

For a normal pop star yes. For a juggernaut like Adele whose sporadically released albums once represented cultural events not so much.

From a marketing standpoint, an artist like Adele was quite specific for the times she dominated and probably wouldn't "hit" the same way today as she did 10-15 years ago.

I think 30 being ignored is a result of this age of short attention spans, chronically online, and TikTok fueled hype. There really isn't a huge balladeer artist today who's known for emotional wistful songs that mass audiences relate to. Die With a Smile is the only recent ballad/mid tempo hit I can think of so it's not impossible per se. But I think Adele is smart to step away and let this current era of mainstream music play out before she comes back to make all of us collectively sob again sosad

I disagree, especially when considering we are several eras past her prime.

But I get your point.

it's her worst album idec. The fact that some were saying it's better than 19, and even 25. It's just so low effort and uninspiring.

It aged like milk the day it came out.

And i did try to listen to it many times cause i like her 1st 3 albums. But its always feel like a chore to go through.

A very boring album, waste of her amazing unique voice.

Die on this hill is giving Adele's big ballad vibe and its a good moderate hit.

But you're right that its so hard for a ballad belter to become A List after the 3 divas in the 90s. Only Adele and maybe Alicia Keys.

The era started and ended with EOM, it's not a bad album but I understand why it's not the cup of tea for everybody, it feels heavy at times and not easy to listen to like 21 or 25

Almost all the album tracks have 100m streams.. and she sold 4m pure sales without a dedicated fanbase. The only downside this era was having multiple big hits. OMG did decent. 700m streams is pretty good…

Anyways it's one of my fave albums. I love the emotions in Hold On, Love Is A Game, I Drink Wine and To Be Loved. I think the main issue is the duration of some of the tracks. 6-7m for 4/5 songs is a stretch for the gp.

tbh it's not that bad. without knowing and checking, i was imagining tracks with sub 10mln streams. its not endless summer vacation bad.

Well comparing Adele to Miley is the issue. Miley is a Disney tween actress turned generic pop star with very specific appeal who releases music very often. She was never the cataclysmic event with multigenerational appeal and world class talent that Adele was in the 2010s.

Adele's first and so far only album released in the height of the streaming era should be bigger overall with how little she releases imo. There's certainly no dilution of her brand.
