They ruined the lives of so many people by giving that advice. They should honestly be sued beyond oblivion. So many scams smh. I feel bad for people who got their hopes up and wasted their time.

Not really. People who are graduating with an IT major in 2026 are struggling hard to find entry level jobs. Especially the major of Computer Science.

If you're a medior or senior in an organization then you wont be scoffed much. But the youngsters in IT are definitely having an incredibly hard time.

You're honestly 100% correct. It was a scam and SO MANY PEOPLE followed the advice that ended up being completely wrong. Tragic.

Even if this was true, it's way more likely for a computer science major to be hired after college than any other major out there today. Even more than doctors.

Now they're saying if you don't spend x hours/day integrating AI into your life and learning to write good prompts, you're the one to blame if you end up jobless and homeless.

Degrees with highest unemployment rates. The Labor Market for Recent College Graduates:

• Anthropology: 9.4%

• Physics: 7.8%

• Computer engineering: 7.5%

• Nursing: 2.1%

(obviously contingent on location as well but this is a recent study to degrees with the most post-college unemployment)

What I see here is that 93% of the Computer Science/Engineer kids are employed after college and getting the top 2 highest entry salaries in the industry today (by a HUGE margin)......

Going to college as a computer science major with AI so prominent to develop solutions so quickly must be so strange tbh.

My ex's sister's boyfriend worked for the national post service in Switzerland until he was laid off and he decided to "learn to code". Needless to say this brought him nowhere. Just go to a real university instead of taking scam online courses for 6,000 CHF that will bring you nowhere?

This is what I was arguing in the other thread but I don't work in the field so I can't say for certain. Computer science is still a highly preferred degree; the issue is that everybody wants to be an entry-level software engineer at a fortune 500 company making $150,000 a year. These companies are off-shoring Indian workers at a cheaper pay rate and Americans are expected to have senior level experience. Regardless, computer science degrees can be used far beyond software engineering. It proves you are a strong problem solver and work well with technology.

People were going to boot camps to land jobs paying $130k with literally 0 credentials. It was never going to be a sustainable job sector and a lot of the people who never developed real engineering skills will be the ones who ultimately get replaced. I can't blame the learn to code people though. Some of them really capitalized on the 5 year window that bootcamps were everywhere and many are still working without ever having to go to school.

It's still not a bad field to get into if you know what you're getting into and can swing it, but trying to break into an industry that was ripe for oversaturation with no credentials outside of bootcamps was always going to be a disaster waiting to happen. It depends much more now on going to a university with good connections and doing internships while building independent projects, since even cookie cutter CS grads are a dime a dozen nowadays

This is one of those situations where if many people have a skill, the value of that skill plummets. This was bound to happen, even without AI.

If you wanted to do this stuff, the best time was 15 years ago.
