Now if it doesn't have a desirable peak in week #1 then the "OH NOZ ARTIST IS FLOPPING! another trend i'm hating is the quick succession of singles before an album comes out. like, you'll get the second release maybe two or three weeks after, and another one (if not two) within a month. they don't allow for songs to grow steadily. by the time an album is released, some of the secondary singles have no chance of long-term success. a good example of this doja and her latest album (which may have been destined to flop nonetheless).

i cannot imagine how artists like janet, madonna, paula, bruce, george, etc. managed to have 4-7 top ten hits from a single record back in the 80s and 90s. that would never happen today.
