There's a clear visual and sonic throughline between Gaga's signature and BP, but given Miley has professed her love for Gaga multiple times in the past and how Gaga's artistry serves as a strong blueprint for artists attempting anything with an edge, it makes sense.

Stans and non-stans are noticing it. Publications have noted it. None of these comparisons are being done in a Madonna stan'd "reductive" way, in fact we celebrate Gaga's wide influence. So what's wrong with pointing out the obvious?

Since we are in this base, I can also flip this around and say you have some unattainable high bar for Gaga yet find this incredible, which is fine, but not everyone will share the same opinion as yours.

Everytime a popgirl releases there's always the immediate comparison from part of this fanbase, the immediate praise if it's something dance 'boppable' and the accusation of being a hater if you don't jump immediately on the bandwagon, that Miley's song is honestly bland, the only cute thing is the video and her returning to impersonate a certain kind of popstar visually but the song is mid.

Obviously Abracadabra and Disease devours every music video from Chromatica but Chromatica had great looks/visuals too

I'd take these looks over that rag doll look from The Dead Dance.

And again, not my favorite album of hers but this is her best album cover (for me at least)

Musically there's no question Mayhem is heaps above Chromatica but visually I think there's still room for improvement... Mayhem was a bit uncohesive. The tour did bring it together. Abracadabra is one of her best singles and music videos of all time though.

Yeah, it had some cute things here and there, especially the ROM MV, but the music was quite stale and so was the era.

Well, it's not even about a one on one comparisson only. You can count with one hand the real good things Chromatica the Chromatica era had, but the rest was stale, uninspired, took to long to be released or cancelled, etc.

But I get your point with 911 Vs. TDD (the only thing is that even with 911, I feel like somethings off, it just does not have the freshness that the MAYHEM era had), imo).

Given that Abra had no alphabetical advantage for SOTY due to ballot changes, meaning voters went to look for it/Gaga specifically, I wonder if they would have given Happy Mistake love had it been submitted instead. Given recent winners, I wonder if it would've come in closer to the win than wherever Abra placed (though still not enough to beat WILDFLOWER).
