It's far better than people give it credit for, and I think much of that is due to fans being petty and not wanting to support or like it because it's not what they wanted her to do. The discourse in the base at the time was not here for it, and it seemed more out of principle than actual qualitative perspectives.

I actually love most of their collaborations with 03 Bonnie & Clyde and Part II On The Run being my favourite. I don't ever listen CIL or DV in context of Jay-Z tbh….I mentally block him out of those songs lol

I don't mind EIL lashings (although it gave me Black Effect and Apeshit, which I love) but I will never let a The Gift slander pass. That album is immaculate.

EIL isn't a bad album. The era as a whole was a disaster. But regardless, it's just not her best and I always want Beyoncé at her best.

I think what made EIL successful creatively is it blended current hip-hop styles with throwback energy, making it a perfect summer BBQ album.

I don't think she's going to repeat it though, and if she does it'll be vastly different, so I don't know why people are acting worried or upset at the notion.

This is what many of us are not realizing, Beyoncé's squeaky clean image has been shielding Jay for the longest. It would be an unwise move to do a whole joint album with him based on medium to low reputation he currently has with the GP.

The thing about EIL in terms of viewing it as an "era" is that I don't think it was ever meant to be one.

Everything about it was confined to their own "intimate" channels.

It was announced at their concert.
APESHIT, the leading single/video, was premiered at their concert.
All subsequent live performances of the album's tracks were at their concerts.
Even it's bonus track was a TIDAL exclusive.

They did not perform at the BET Awards, the VMAs, or anywhere else like Beyoncé had during Lemonade.

I think talking about it as an "era" rather than something that truly was for the fans (even though they didn't want it, lol) or for the sake of just making it out and putting it out there is holding it to a standard it never actually tried to achieve.

The past 2 days i have been binge watching OTR2 clips (without knowing this discussion of a possible collab project etc would emerge ) .... I fear something is in the air after all ...

I still believe we'll get a secret 4th installment, but in no way is it gonna be The Carters II.

A DC reunion is more likely, also a purely HipHop centric album or something completely left-field that still ties into the whole trilogy acts.

Honestly, I am not stressed about it being a collab album... it won't. That doesn't make sense at all, so lets not get carried away.

I was thinking about OTR and watching a few clips and wow it was such a gag. They were the IT power couple in the early 2010s. But now the effect is gone and the thought of getting another EiL leaves a bad taste in my mouth

I woke up feeling blessed today but then I came here and saw a OTR3 rumor

Jay's solo shows kinda confirms Act III not EIL2 and the shows make perfect sense with Act III still dropping soon. Bey doesn't tour the year of the album drop and rather kinda lives life rather than really roll out the album. We are so back!
