AOTY will be interesting next year

I predict so far:

Beyonce - ACT III

Rosalia - LUX

Taylor - Whatever it's called

Harry Styles

.......

don't forget Olivia Dean. she's about to come in HOT.

BNA winner + going on an extremely sold-out arena tour in the US this summer.

My mom passed away last week. I know I mentioned her wanting to hear a Beyonce rock album as she has anticipated it for years, and I'm so sad she didn't get to hear it before she passed (if that's wha

I really hope we get it soon. My mom loves Beyonce, and her favorite genre is rock, she is SO excited. She just got diagnosed with terminal cancer, and I really hope she gets to hear the album while

Looking back at the Beyhdration of 2013, it's kinda hilarious that the Hive was spiralling so much when in that year we still got:

  • A national-anthem performance at the inauguration of President Obama

  • A Super Bowl performance

  • A documentary

  • A live concert DVD

  • An Oprah interview

  • Multiple magazine covers

  • A Pepsi Commercial (featuring new, unreleased music)

  • An H&M Commercial (featuring new, unreleased music)

  • Chime for Change concert (which had a performance of Grown Woman)

  • New music releases:

    • God Made You Beautiful by Beyoncé

    • Bow Down/I Been On by Beyoncé

    • Turnt by the Dream feat. Beyoncé

    • You've Changed by Kelly Rowland feat. Beyoncé

    • Back to Black by Beyoncé and André 3000 (from The Great Gatsby Soundtrack)

    • Part II (On The Run) by Jay-Z feat. Beyoncé

    • Rise Up by Beyoncé

If anyone was around here in that time, you know the meltdowns and essays that were occurring. Granted it was more based on the confusion of what was happening, but anyway, what a time to be in the Hive.

So you want another Beyonce Bowl where the set only caters to core fans?

yes? would you rather she play SPIRIT and DELRESTO?

Olivia is the front runner imo

A reminder:

The era and album you like to trash had

  • A colossal debut performance of its lead single at the SB

  • Charted the entire album inside the Top50 I believe

  • An accompanying film that was released closely to the album itself and which won her a Peabody

  • A performance for each song within a year of the release of this album - Each performance was executed flawlessly at that

  • Arguably her greatest tour

  • Arguably her best medley at a show

  • Her best critics rating

So yeah, keep trashing the MASTERPIECE and keep exposing your lack of TASTE

I still maintain that no era in pop music history boasts a set of performances as AMAZING as Lemonade's. There's not one dud, and some of them are career highlights, things no one has topped since (Grammys, VMAs, even the random TIDAL performance...)

well realistically she probably won't ever do Super Bowl again anyway, except a slim chance as one of Jay's guests...

Ooooh Instagram post… she's getting back in the algorithm

I could see it.

Honestly, I think Rosalia may have a good chance depending on her tour, and how she campaigns closer to time. There will be some good competition.

Rosalía's album is imo the best album released in the eligibility period but ya it would depend on how she continues its legacy throughout the year, especially with more competition coming out.

Taylor - Whatever it's called

that girl will be fighting for a nomination lol

it could end up being Bey vs Rosalia for AOTY if the rest nominees split votes (Bruno, Harry, Olivia)

but the context matters... exactly because of some of these events we all expected an album... and then in summer 2013 The Dream gives an interview saying bEYONCE has scrapped her album. The entire 2013 seemed as if she was lost, with no direction and things falling apart behind the scenes. And then the album scrap news came... Plus, this was just 2 years after 4, which at that time by many fans was seen as underpreformance. She got rid of her management and people were doubting if she lost it, especially when other pop girls were killing it.

But then 13 December arrived jonny3 history changed and a new Beyonce was born. And then another woman showed up in 2016. Really impressive seeing how many times she has evolved.

do you really think lemonade is being trashed? Can it be your algorithm? Cause it is still the album that is celebrated and mentioned as her best. Perhaps it is just atrl thing...(because streams are not good lol).

I would not say "arguably" her best tour. The best one up to then for sure. Still top tier. And as for critics, it is broadly on par with Rena and CC. However, it was more of a zeithegist and culturally relevant then rena or cc.

Ya, I did mention at the end of my post that the meltdowns were due to the confusion, but really what I meant to reveal is that looking back, considering what we have today for a full era (not just for the lead up to it), it's a stark contrast.

Over the years, even since 2013, my position has always been "let her do her thing". The meltdowns over her not doing what we want her to do, the degrading her work (like the RENAISSANCE album cover, for example) because it's not what was expected (the Déja Vu music video fan petition comes to mind as well), the "she's gonna drop on her birthday" conspiracy theories... it all just leads to setting yourself up. I find the anticipation exciting, and if that's all we're gonna get between eras, I think we should learn to feel that way about it. Already people are upset she didn't launch the era at the Grammys or the Super Bowl, as if she's going to do the same thing she just did again.

Does anyone else remember the meltdowns from the RENAISSANCE album cover (that occurred in this thread and elsewhere too)?

People were photoshopping disco dance floors under the horse, adding typography to it, crying over its simplicity, acting like it was terrible. Now look, one of the most iconic and stunning covers of the entire decade.

Renaissance-by-Beyonce-0205f56ea3114f009

people always have meltdowns with beyonce.

they hate everything she does at first, including some fans. and then in hindsight they glorify it. Rena received so much hate in the beginning / BMS terrible, not creative, album, cover tacky, oh and the tour/ those were meltdowns!

Rally remarkable how she puts up with all of this, no wonder she stopped showing in public!

I was sure she was going to drop the BREAK MY SOUL video on that first friday of its release, then perform it at the BET awards that Sunday lol. Which, looking back, is so foolish because what made me think suddenly Beyoncé was going to angle for a #1 (though she ultimately kind of did with that QUEENS REMIX timely drop). But then she didn't release the video or perform the song and I just moved on from that.

i also think she has explained her self a lot via music, rena film and some interviews in the magazines / she has communicated who she is now and what matters to her. lots of fan still treat her as a 20 y MPG....i feel lots of fans do not understand her as a person and artist at all.

Talking to Harper's Bazaar, Beyoncé explained why she has chosen to pour herself into her art, full stop, using her music, visual projects, philanthropy and fashion endeavors to tell her story. So if you don't get the message that way...

"One day I decided I wanted to be like Sade and Prince, she said. "I wanted the focus to be on my music, because if my art isn't strong enough or meaningful enough to keep people interested and inspired, then I'm in the wrong business. My music, my films, my art, my message—that should be enough."

amen...

but the fact that she could not bother to upload it on her yt.... i mean, no excuse really. for a while it was impossible to find VMA2016 on YT, just on dailymotion.

if i want anything from her, is to upload her live perfomances and release a live album or a playlist of Rena and CC tours. thats not much of a job to do!

take away the scrapped album, replace 2013 with now and 4 with CC and we basically have the exact same situation currently

which hopefully means we're in for another career peak

sorry, this makes no sense at all.

I think it would be so cool if she debuted her new single with a performance in Times Square, followed up with some fan favorites to kickstart the Act 3 era.
