Not because it's not fun and iconic or whatever, but because of how annoying it is when people suck. Like, especially the ones who would cheer after 2 seconds because they thought they were being silent really well. It's like.... um? what?

I know for a fact that most of the Hive that allegedly "hate" it only do so out of recency bias. In being a cover (one of a super known song, at that), it was never going to give the same sensory overload that the rest of the new tracks would upon listening to CC for the first time.

Bey kept pretty much everything to the same sonics as the original and, as I always suspected she would, she flipped the lyrics to work for her boss b*tch brand. There was never going to be begging Becky with the Good Hair to leave her happy home alone like the original. Never lol.

Much of the hate is artificial IMO, because no one had this energy when it was announced she was covering it. If anything, there was excitement. She covered it borderline verbatim, put a modern Beyonce twist on it, and somehow it's the worst thing ever? I don't buy it.

I read this and legit was confused whether i opened OldTRL and landed in the base of 2023

She literally doesnt exist unless she releases music or performs live looool and thats once per decade.

Ironically I don't think she is doing any covers on act iii, it all felt specifically crafted for CC to have BB and JO on the album.

Act iii might chart a new path as the Rock genre is more forgiving and less gate keeping than Country.

Out of the two Jolene has better replay value and isn't an energy sucker like Blackbird. I still think the tracklisting of CC could have been reworked to not have such a snoozefest song right after a BANGER like American Requiem.

Ya I don't really need BLACKBIIRD on the album, especially after AMERIICAN REQUIEM being so powerful. I get the contrast, but first listen I was like WHAT?

I'm expecting act iii to have some really well-executed and meaningful samples though, like what the Led Zeppelin one did for Don't Hurt Yourself.

Slight sidetone: I think I Feel Love is the best executed sample of her career in the way she uses it as a quotation, the way the instrumental is a sample at the start then immediately an interpolation, the way her voice transitions from Donna's melody to her own... and I'm hoping for more brilliant uses such as that on act iii.

She's really in hiding recently. No show at super bowl (well almost) and not even a current photo for Kelly Bday post.

It's a good sign that something is coming.

Unrelated but I wonder what collaborators she will have for act 3. Post Malone/Miley was quite unexpected

lol ya they were very random. I was reminded today that there was a scrapped Kacey Musgraves song too, I wonder how many other (less surprising) collaborators there were, and if she just merely picked the best songs not necessarily the collaborations that made the most sense. I see the point for using white artists who forayed into country after success into other genres as a statement, but it was random (mostly Post Malone).

While the intent and message of Blackbird is important and great, even on the CC tour, Blackbird immediately brought the energy down. It did work in the context of the Beyonce Bowl special though.

I don't mind a good sample but I would love for some new sounds to be unlocked in the process as well, that future generations can reference.

I am a dreamer but I would take any of these: an Evanescence, Willow or Hayley Williams feature, a Tina Turner sample, Rosetta Thorpe Sample/Interpolation, Chuck Berry or Little Richard sample or interpolation or interlude.

Ironically, I am one of the few persons that LOVE good interludes, I loved them on TG and CC but I don't mind if she doesnt use them this time, undoubtedly I think she will continue with the transitions on act iiii though.

I think the only interlude I skip is Smoke Hour II but Dolly P and The Linda Martel Show are so enjoyable and leans into the cinematic approach of the album.

it's funny how she's allergic to performing certain songs... like Dance For You used as background music while she rode the horseshoe between CUFF IT and HEATED. At Revel she only danced to it... put it in the category with Sweet Dreams (barely and/or badly performed [EMAs is one of my least fave of all time] and Check On It [only snippets].

I'm pretty sure Gary Clark Jr. is gonna be involved with the last act, and I hope it's more than just playing the guitar.

Since she's used well know songs in a very recognizable way in both Renaissance and CC, I'd LOVE a Superstition sample if the album leans towards a groovy/funky sound.

With the features, I want a mix of the commercial and the critics' darlings.

First and foremost, the Chart Hive in me wants whoever will yield the mega-streams. So, the Bruno Mars', Harry Styles, Adele, Rihanna, hell call Bad Bunny for this one if need be, and if it can randomly click sonically.

(At a point, I thought sis was being super stringent on the features with the reclaiming Black genres motif, but if Post Malone and Miley Cyrus made the cut last time, anyone is fair game IMO).

She can balance that out with the Gary Clark Jr's etc on the "art-not-charts" front.
