Beyoncé's Halo had a popularity decrease over the years. Why?

Featured Replies

Back in 2017/2018 the song had great daily streams, even making the Spotify charts

Nowadays the song has good stats - around 550k a day, but that's very far away from entering the charts like it used to do

Why is the GP doing Beyonce's best song dirty?

Didn't it benefit from autoplay or something like that ? The way this song was, by far, the most streamed song by a popgirl on YT never made any sense at all

Her streaming power in general took a toll, I remember her doing better prior to the pandemic once that happened something shifted, sure she still does fine but not as good she did before.

Tired of it. Just like other pop diva songs like Whitney's IWALY, they were overplayed (I'm not comparing Halo's success to IWALY).

I think it's natural for an artist who's been going at it for so many decades. The younger generation tends to relate to younger artists - Taylor is kinda the exception because her music and image has remained quite juvenile save some exceptions (Folkmore in particular).

She hasn't acknowledged this song in how many decades now? :skull:

EDIT: ah I remember her singing Halo at the KB funeral. But it got overshadowed by XO. :skull:

No shade but who wants to listen to that boring mess. She needs to give us bops again.

She has been paying Halo dust for years now, and seems to prefer crazy in love. She didn't perform it in both cowboy carter and renaissance tour when she did her signature old hits. So naturally, the popularity starts to dwindle among her fanbase.

Because it's not viral on TikTok (yet). Simple as that

Old songs gaining good daily streams, usually due to TikTok virality or an event happening recently

It's still doing very well for a song released 16 years ago

Algorithms don't push her as much as they did a few years ago. This used to be a spotify playlist staple (which explains its early success), and now it's lucky even to be included on Easter or Holiday playlists.
