The music just isn't hitting. I even think that Manchild only succeeded due to the goodwill and interest that she gained with the Short 'n' Sweet era, and it wasn't on the song's own merits 

Boring, it sounds like a boring Jack Antonoff song, not commercial material either. I am starting to think she is going to score just a big hit this era, but it seems chasing hits was not a goal this time either way.

Absolutely agree with you on this. It's as if she hasn't launched a new era but continues with some kinda  "bonus era" of the previous album.

 

Such a weird place she is in tbh.

I think the song did just fine. Everything isn't going to snag like expresso or taste. 
 

I do think she should move on to the next single though. I still think she should have done more singles from S&S then released this early next year. I just don't understand the rush but overall her team needs to move quick for the next single.

This is sad is probably the only single I Like or at least I'm not annoyed by from her last 3 albums
