Mid 30s release : Lemonade vs TLOAS

Featured Replies

Beyonce in her mid 30s released the critically acclaimed "Lemonade". Taylor swift, now approaching 36, has released her hotly anticipated "The Life of a Showgirl"

both artists are constantly compared. Which artist in their mid 30s is most impressive artistically ?? :ducky:

Camp writing album vs Solo written album. (Max and Shellback credited for produce or something, not for writing the album.

we'd need to see either a taylor album with 50 co-writers and co-producers or a solo written beyoncé alboom to compare methinks

The self drag. :rip:

Taylor Swift has nothing left to say. She's so out of ideas that she's manufacturing a Charli XCX feud.

50 writers making a phenomenal album >>>> whatever showgirl is.

Lemonade is a once in a lifetime album. TLOAS is just another taylor release post folklore.

and who forced taylor to do that? 😭 also the number of writers doesn't mean anything. An album can have 50 writers and sound a mess without a creator with a vision behind it.

The one people will remember for years to come and is a classic. Lemonade

The whole solo writing argument ALWAYS fed by either TS or Lana stans is so annoying, because clearly that formula doesn't work since they make shitty music.

Good album vs dogshit album from the pits of hell :ryan3:

The one that won a Peabody and established the artist who made it as one of the greatest, if not the greatest, of her generation; the one that will be discussed, listened to and thought about for generations to come

Some of the best songs of all time were collaborations and/or not written by the credited artist; true artistry is being able to synthesize lyrics through your singular lens/vision. Look at how Whitney not only reinterpreted "I Will Always Love You" but truly made it her song. It's all well and good to be able to write a song, but what worth or merit does it have if the song is a reductive blend of your past, better work? What is the point in rehashing the same overwrought "diaristic" slop with zero growth simply because it will sell?

Lemonade has so many different collaborators because of not only the genres and influences Beyoncé is pulling from, but because albums, no matter how singular they're marketed to be, are always collaborative. Collaboration can bring upon feedback; Feedback is important, lest you get caught in the same echo chamber that is dragging the musical quality of Taylor's music down at a pretty fast pace.

Beyoncé also clearly is more objective/not just rubber stamping her efforts; Tay should take a few notes.

The "Taylor writes her material by herself" flex doesn't really hit here, because her having co-writers might have saved her latest album from being utter garbage :rip:
