Taylor has always made mass appeal music.  It's not meant to be sonically unique enough that it would turn away the general public, the only risks she brings to the table are feuds or hints at wrongdoings in her lyrics.  She makes the most watered down pop music imaginable, and many times it's really good!  But let's not pretend like she's a creative or boundary pushing force, she's actually the safest.  Hence the Ed Comparison.

What went wrong is that there isn't a single song on this album to relate to my favorite book and anime/manga/manhwa characters to the same extent of previous albums.

 

How does she expect me to get addicted to the songs?

She is at the point of her career, where artists become so huge that they feel safe in her comfort zone and don't feel the need to push further or challenge themselves. I mean, I get it, why worry if the numbers are so huge no matter what. It obviously doesn't help the fact that neither her team nor her fans react negatively; hence, her judgement has become clouded.

The only reason why it sells it's because it's front loaded as Reputation successor by advertising Max & Shellback.

I think she was just not inspired. Max and Shellback were not inspired either. I truly feel like she had nothing to say this time around, It feels like an album that she released just for the sake of it, and I don't get that decision because her past albums all had a very distinct point of view and I don't see it here with Showgirl.

People have been saying she's the female BTS for years now

she needs to start collaborating with other songwriters BUT also she knows her public and is playing safe for the numbers so... idk i guess there is nothing wrong with her if that what she wants and her hardcore fans are happy (they gonna buy anything anyways)

I feel like she's in the spot where she wants to keep capitalizing on her current massive momentum / keep fans fed and happy but she doesn't have much inspiration in her personal life and doesn't have the desire to experiment much sonically anymore. also doesn't help that she's surrounded by yes men and fans who will worship and buy anything she outs out regardless of quality

 

i hope she takes time now to focus on wedding and probably having a kid or two before so we can actually have the monumental TS13 the fans deserve

its also her 12th album, you should have already have a realist expectation on what her music should sound like. She's not gonna suddenly write an album that wins a noble prize y'all. If it's not what you want maybe you should adjust your expectations or simply look for other artists that fills it

im kinda shocked at how uninspired and reductive (to her previous sounds) this album feels

The Swifties on page 1 not even TRYING to defend the quality. 

She released so many albums in a short time. The songwriting is poor in this album because it looks like she wrote it in a month. And the production is very monotone and dull. Plus the love songs sound uninspiring which is weird when they are supposedly about the love of her life, and the man whom she is going to marry. She doesn't sound like she is in love. 

It feels like she's on a point in her career where she doesn't have much to say but that's due to the constant releases. I didn't mind it at first but it's obvious that it's already taking a toll on the quality of her music, she will always have huge sales due to her fandom but I feel like sis needs to sit down live life and find more inspiration (Although with Travis being her muse, I don't expect much)

She's not an artist anymore, she's a product seller
