Is iTunes relevant again?

Featured Replies

On this age of streaming, artists like Taylor Swift and Doja Cat are releasing itunes exclusive editions of their albums. Why is that? It feels like the late 2000s/early 10s again.

I still use it because it's still possible in Windows and I have a lot of CDs. Apple Music app is really bad. iTunes is very vintage.

It's only to boost Billboard debuts.

By itself it's a totally irrelevant measure of success.

It does measure if ur fans are loyal to give u extra Billboard sales tho.

iTunes libraries will be the next generation's vinyl trend, bookmark me

it's just for more variants = more sales

Well they must be getting exclusive partnership money too, since they could release the same variants at their own website

I think there's a limit over how many versions are counted from the store so probably they'd want to spread the SKUs across different retailers

It's just bts talk not even a variant

iTunes never went away.

It's always brought up with celebration when 10 stans of an artist get together and purchase it on there, pushing it to #1 and topping the iTunes charts. :hippo:

it didn't, which is different from staying relevant tho :hippo:

I guess this is way to fight back the recent D2C digital album rules.

Helps out iTunes too by reminding Gen Z it still exists! A win win for both.

You can't even buy albums on ITunes on the phone anymore, which I'm annoyed by

I will never download anything again tbh. Makes no sense. Buy albums in physical format to own it and feel it in physical format (CD or vinyl) or just stream. Download makes no sense now a days. One day your phones of laptops or whatever could just decide they don't support downloaded music anymore. You'd lose hundreds if not thousands of dollars. The age of downloads was the most idiotic imo. Physical ownership and streaming is where it's at now.

I still buy songs I actually like off iTunes like it's 2006, I want to own them and be able to listen to them without cellular/wifi.

My fave's single and album preorder went #1 on UK iTunes. It's always been relevant to us Pez stans :jonny5:

i hope not

kinda tired of cd exclusive bonus tracks that wont be on streaming after a year or something the deal is over

This is not to inflate numbers you're favs are consumed by the GP who suddenly decided they love itunes again
