Giving the World Away is one of the best albums of the decade, she's so ******* underrated  should've had her big breakout moment with Quicksand or Lights On or any other song really.   Also

the mixing on this alboom :deadbanana: oh hatçhie wtf sis

some of it is nice but a lot of it also just feel like undercooked demos with terrible mixing sis i know you probably couldn't afford professional mixing but this ain't it

let me stream the best song of all time Twin to wash away the taste chile

Edited by RideOrDie

It's not bad by any means, but it's not very good either?

However I was expecting at least one song to be as great as GTWA :pancake:

Yeah, the mixing sounds off  but I think it's intentional, in order to give that retro-dreampop soundscape, sorta like Cocteau Twins? :dancehall:

This is def her weakest album but I still think it's incredible. The 123 punch of Only One Laughing, Liquorice and Carousel i mean come on now

Anchor is amazing too i need her to go deeper into that moody direction

I don't really have any complaints about the mixing, because her older dream pop stuff sounded like this too. I think you guys are actually just complaining about the Jay Som production on this (all her music also has the same kinda sound) :celestial6:

oh this album is actually excellent. Someone Else's News is incredible. :jonny4:

Jay Som is involved? Oh, I'm in for a treat :DWAS:

I'm halfway through and I've saved every song to my library and "Liquorice" is already a contender for her best song ever so I'm not sure what the disconnect in this thread is about

She's clearly gone for a more traditional dream pop approach this time and so there's less of the big pop hooks that were on her last two albums. It's probably her weakest for me but still good. Sage and Carousel are my favourites.

it's not anywhere near GTWA level, but knowing her discography before this album, I was kinda prepared for the letdown.

I can't separate the tracks on Liquorice musically, they all sort of seem to blend altogether? haven't dived in the lyrics yet

I will continue streaming, because I want to support my girl, but I'm not a blind fan and I don't need to listen to this 10 times to say it's mid right now

finally my f*cking apple music library updated yesterday morning so I think I'm gonna give this a first listen rn :jamming:

cute album :clap3: Sage and Wonder are maybe Quicksand/Take My Hand levels of serves

this is fine, def will grow on me more

it was always gonna be hard to follow up GTWA bc she set the bar so high :jonny6: and her sound doesn't allow for a lot of experimentation without a major shift in style so i think this is pretty much what i expected

keep coming back to Stuck, what a smash

her best closer :jonny4:

the keeps growing, i love the whole album now :jamming:

i can see why it would feel like a step back after she experimented with a bunch of different sounds on the last album but i still think it's really great, her second best to me

Guys this is really good I was worried !!!! Wonder is incredible she really channeled mvb on that instrumental

She fell off after GTWA's singles. Nosedive was a good redemption arc but she fell off again

Same here. Took a while to finally click, but once it did... no skips. It's a great album!

Gets better with each listen, obviously not on GTWA level but still amazing and her second best album
