Am I the only one that doesn't like this song at all? I find it so corny. Why can't she make a lead single without a clear and obvious hook that sounds cringe? The video is cringe too. The convulsing is just corny.

No I agree with you, I love everything Flo does but I feel like this isn't something I would want to play in public or in my car

The video was giving theatre school project. Some moments when she's by herself were nice and whimsical but the whole witch squad was kinda cringe.

i just can't get into it 

 

it feels like she's increasingly becoming a pastiche of herself. like the witchy vibes were always part of her work but they were also combined with other interesting things. it all feels a bit on the nose and one note

No offense but "I want her to do better" is not the hot take you think it is. Just cause you don't like it doesn't mean you're owed something you feel is better - Florence is an artist and as such she will continue to put out and hat she believes in, what inspires her and what makes her feel fulfilled.

yeah, song is fantastic! The chorus is very catchy melodically, but I still wish she had sung it in higher notes vs. lower; because it's lower in her register, not only is it less powerful but the vocals also get a little bit lost in the mix

I agree - you can tell when an artist doesn't care and is just doing whatever or being lazy.. like Lana on autopilot sometimes, or especially the disgusting Katy Perry; in which case it's perfectly appropriate to say "do better".

 

But with artists like Flo, twigs.. it's so clear that their heart, thought, attention to detail, etc. is put 100% into everything they do, the entire product end-to-end. And maybe fans don't love it all always, but I always appreciate it regardless cuz you know it's exactly what and how they wanted it

But what is it with the girls choosing the worst photo as the standard album cover? The cover is giving Hard Candy but make it witchy and I'm not really feeling it. The first alternate cover, however, is one of the most stunning photos she's ever taken. The exact same thing happened with TLOAS.

I like the ES standard cover but I kinda have the feeling that some artists are deliberately leaving the best covers as variants to incentivize fans to buy multiple copies, while choosing a lesser cover as the main one. Gaga, Taylor, Florence and there's probably other examples.

Or let people have their opinions even if they're negative? The album might be better than its first single but for now it lacks the substance that HBHBHB had

I also don't want her to go back to lungs, every previous album she mentioned lungs in some way as a reference, it's kind of time for her to move on lol.

And honestly it won't have the substance of How Big because it's not HBHBHB, as long as you keep waiting for HBHBHB, ceremonials and lungs, you'll never be able to appreciate anything new that Florence does, because you will always be comparing it to the previous one. 

I love this, and while I would love another HBHBHB (who wouldn't) we should be grateful we even got that album because, my god, no notes. I'm sure there will be better songs on the album that will make us eat our words. Especially if it is a witchy album.

There better be a Mitski duet

You're being a little dramatic. She's done plenty of things that seem like she was pushing herself creatively and I loved to see it. This just doesn't feel like it. Just my opinion.

Really didn't need to call another artist disgusting to make your point. Very immature.

Florence does care and is very artistic but this doesn't feel like her best work nor does it feel very creative or inspired. Like an earlier commenter said she's become a pastiche of herself. She keeps repeating these witchy vibe songs cause she think it's her shtick and that's just what it feels like now - a shtick. Sorry but this just isn't her at her best and that's just my opinion. 

 

That being said the album could still be good.

It's quite tiring to hear people keep using HBHBHB as some kind of litmus test that Florence must achieve/surpass... HBHBHB is just one of Florence's many great albums, each one having a different inspiration, theme, and sound to it. Everybody Scream sounds like it will be an excellent album opener and I am stoked to see where Florence goes with this album

I agree that I don't want her to go back to one album's sound, but it's okay to dabble into something similar and then build on it from there. I feel like she could do a space/astrology/cosmic theme album well. I'd melt if she did something like this actually
