It's annoying because she's a visual artist and yet she always manages to f*** things up with her album covers. Scarlet could have been amazing with her bloody figure, Vie could have been incredible with a p*rn-chic 80s cover, but no… 

 

Anyway, the album will still be great I'm sure but it's sad because a cover art always creates some cohesion around a project.

She's in a full on custom 80s wedding dress.  It just doesn't fit the idea of what yall thought she would do for the 80s. lol.

I'm glad she's in therapy.  Her responses as of lately show she's grown.  
 

I criticized the cover initially, but the reality is: 1) it's really not that bad, 2) the art is about the ARTIST not about fans.  I think recent years people have gotten it twisted.  At the end of the day, it's her expression…not ours.  

This is why music/art sucks now…everybody creating in the echo chamber, trying to get hits + please the masses… instead of doing what they're truly inspired to create.  
 

I might not love everything she does (STILL dislike Scarlet cover), but she's at least taking chances + following her own inspiration/creative spark.  Regardless if it sells or not, regardless if it's "consistent" or not.  
 

And the reality is…I still streamed Scarlet despite the cover

theres definitely misalignment in the message of what the album art entails, yes it should be personal to the artist, but also accessible to the audience to digest and understand, especially as a POP record. visuals are a huge thing for me and others as it creates association

As a bachelor of media and arts the idea of the cover is amazing, just the execution is lacking imo and color scheme is off compared to the other ongoing theme and covers. The contrast between shadows and highlights are quite harsh on it. Also the colors are very vibrant, true-toned, in-face and leaning to the green/yellow/blue. The other covers are very muted, yet deep and have distinctive color grading. Soft lights between shadows and highlights as if soft box was used while photographing compared to the natural harsh daylight on the official cover. not hating, just observing.

 

 

You guys are more annoying than Doja ever has been, these reactions over a decent at worst cover are…

I hate it sorry. I just don't understand her team's logic behind this change. Clearly it comes from a mv-photoshoot I would assume take me dancing. I'm  frustrated because you went to paris and shot visuals, and from that trip you chose 3/5 of the pictures as alt covers. Even before the paris trip, you did test promo images (the grace jones hair shoot) with your photographer Jacob and decided to not use those (good decision). After that, you did more pictures (the wedding cake, roses, and red sports car pics). So to come and change the entire aesthetic at the ninth hour is extremely frustrating for one the DSP/label people, the fans who already bought copies, and the people who actually helped you with these shoots. This era is such a mess and it doesn't have to be.

that's a bit dramatic lmao... what about the fans who already bought copies or the label?? the covers were for the vinyl collection like she already stated from the moment they were out, everyone bought the cover they liked, the cover for streaming is a different one (and probably won't even be on physicals for months). What's the issue? I also agree that this cover doesn't fit with the 80s vibe but it's not the end of the world. She also said the album is all about love and that's what she wanted to highlight with this cover

the cover has grown on me, and at the end of the day it is her album and she can do what she wants. I still think the Eiffel tower pic is the best cover.
