  • she's still trying?

  • Can't wait to finally have it on my AM playlist in 5 months from now

  • Why wouldn't she still be working? She has critically acclaimed albums. She's able to consistently tour around the world. And she's currently charting on billboard charts around the world just like sh

along with "The Life", "That's My Girl", and "Scared of Happy

Theses songs are not very good. Good for FH but not someone like Tinashe. Although Prisoner is fantastic.

That's why she sold them.

The initial (2015) version of Joyride would've been something like this:

"Keep Your Eyes On The Road" (Intro) (made the album)

"Joyride" (f. Travis Scott) (made the album)

"Party Favors" (f. Young Thug) (Nightride)

"Touch Pass" (Nightride) (discussed at the 2015 listening party here)

"Player" (f. Chris Brown) (Max Martin camp)

"Prisoner" (Max Martin camp)

"Energy" (f. Juicy J) (released to Soundcloud to thank fans for their patience)

"Flame" (eventually released as a single (Sir Nolan) - did not make the album - discussed at the 2015 listening party here)

"Fearless" (became "Scared of Happy" for Fifth Harmony) (StarGate) (discussed at the 2015 listening party here)

"No Contest" (made the album)

"Sacrifices" (Nightride)

"Soul Glitch" (Nightride)

"Ghetto Boy" (Nightride)

(song she recorded with Drake that was left off "Aquarius") - discussed here

"Fires And Flames" (made the album)

I would love for her to add "Prisoner" to whatever project we're getting with the 'No Broke Boys' (Disco Lines Mix) and this record "Popstar".

Another song ("Fearless") was also mentioned for Tinashe's original album but has never been released.

isn't "Fearless" just a different name to "Scared of Happy"?

Yup! Let me edit my post. Read the press releases from the 2015 listening sessions before actually searching for the song. She shopped it to Fifth Harmony.

Prisoner is around 10-11 years old now.

Definitely unlikely that she'd include it on any new project.

Joyride was originally supposed to be executive-produced by Max Martin and his entire team at Wolf Cousins studio in Sweden.

Who said that? This is fanfic, she worked with them but they were not overseeing the whole thing

"What I've learned with this second album is to not waste time making records that aren't going to end up on the project. Don't waste time spending the first day getting to know the producer and just cutting whatever they want. I used to do stuff like that, breaking the ice, and we would end up with a lot of material that I didn't necessarily want in the end." As for what is right for the singer in this phase of her career, Tinashe promises bolder hooks and newer sounds. "With Dr. Luke, I've actually been in the studio with him for five days total and we've made a handful of records," she says. "The momentum felt really cool. With the second album, you always want to push it forward and I think that that one thing I was looking for from him was those big hooks, those super catchy, huge, smash hooks while still integrating that into what I do." With [Max] Martin onboard "seven or eight songs, depending on how many we keep," the California native's hoping to have the golden opportunity to bridge her R&B past with what seems like a faster, poppier future. "Obviously I feel like I've kind of created a lane for myself," she says. "I've definitely created a sound, and I'm not trying to just abandon that or the fan base that I've created doing that type of music. [With this album], I'd like to play with some more tempos, to not have it all be in the mid-tempo range even though a lot of my music is. It's been an adventure for me to figure out how to do my version of an uptempo, because the fastest song I've kind of ever really put out is '2 On,' which is really only kind of like an upper/mid, 95-beat jam. I'm not really interested in doing like, down-the-middle EDM songs, but I'd like to figure out how to do that uptempo. I'm definitely trying to make songs that are hooky enough to cross over."

It's looking like a big chunk. It doesn't even sound like the less Max, more protege / Wolf Cousins Studios tracks are included here ("Touch Pass", "Prisoner", etc.)

this sounds similar to a song from the 2010s but i can't pinpoint exactly which one, anyway i like this!

Touch Pass was done with Joel Compass tho and I think was mentioned very early on as well

Nothing really indicates Joyride was originally exec produced by the Wolf Cousins team tho

What's crazy is we have a million random Joyride era leaks, and none of the Max Martin or Dr Luke tracks :deadbanana4:

Whoops. My bad. Went off the Wikipedia credits for "Touch Pass", which list Wolf Cousins as the producers.

That Wolf Cousins team (a group of Max Martin proteges located in Sweden and LA) produced "Player", "Prisoner", and two songs that were cut from the project early and given to Fifth Harmony: "That's My Girl", and "The Life".

We also have the 7/8 Max & Dr. Luke records that were discussed above but never released. It is not common for ALL of their tracks to get rejected, which is consistent with the label losing confidence and shelving that entire concept.

Scared of Happy / Fearless, Party Favors, Joyride, No Contest, Energy, and Touch Pass were the only other records discussed in 2015 and/or played at the listening party, which leads me to believe all of the tracks above, and one she worked on with Drake (that she saved from the Aquarius sessions) were the entire album at this point. Max / Luke (+ Max's proteges) would've constituted production of more than half the album.

It's looking like a large group of songs were shelved or shopped when "Player" stalled on the Bubbling Under charts.

2016 re-boot single "Superlove" comes from an entirely new batch of songs.

To have between 5-10 Max/Luke records sitting somewhere is crazy to me. I wonder if the beats were repurposed for Ariana, The Weeknd, and Doja Cat,  or if the songs still exist in full.

Oh we have Rain, that's a Luke track that ended up going to Becky G…. Who also shelved it :deadbanana4:

Prisoner is a bop. I cannot believe it was never released. I remember discovering it in 2018-19 and being obsessed with it. I'd love for it to somehow be released with a pop record, but I don't see it happening. I recall some listening party media article saying Prisoner was meant to be the follow up single to Player. RCA should have still went ahead with the release I think.

Pop-star sounds great. Hopefully we get more pop/dance Tinashe for era 3. I think that is where she shines the best.

Am I the only one thinks that her voice has changed? Not in a pleasant way!

For reference; Aquarius is one of my all time fave albums.
