Artpop wins in every category except for the album cover, that's the one thing Chromatica did right; which in a way seems pretty on brand for Chromatica.

I know the vibes about Chromatica changed when Gaga topped it with Mayhem but I still think Chromatica is a good album, better than Artpop, it has some of her best songs (Babylon was like a sneak peek to what Mayhem ended up being), and thee best album cover.

Chromatica is a much better and palatable album. ARTPOP had better singles.

Most monsterz who prefer ARTPOP do so because she was still riding the coattails of TF+TFM+BTW with it & she was still young and provocative. If she released ARTPOP today, most would consider it her absolute worst album.

Interesting results so far. Keep going.

 

ARTPOP is full of charismatic bangers. No watered down, generic productions of any of the tracks

Applause is one of the worst Gaga songs, but DWYW and GUY are great. I like both albums, tho. 

Artpop is unlistenable. Chromatica has 2 good songs so it wins

A consistent but slightly conventional album vs an album of high highs and low lows. I picked Chromatica because I've listened and enjoyed it more but now I would pick ARTPOP because it feels more Gaga.

Better album: ARTPOP

Better singles: ARTPOP

Better cover: Chromatica

ARTPOP just feels more like a genuine Lady Gaga album to me, and it's such a fun listen. Chromatica feels like an unsure artist trying to be something that she's not, or trying to go back to something that she's not ready to revisit  

 

Chromatica would be a good album by some other artists' standards, but a lot of it just feels off coming from such a specific artist like Lady Gaga. Same goes for her other pop attempts of the late 2010s, like The Cure and Why Did You Do That.

I think Chromatica has less duds, but ARTPOP's highs are so much stronger and are aging better (like Applause). I think Chromatica is going to age worse bc of the watered-down production

 

GUY's "I don't wanna be on top" post-chorus is also still a top 10 career highlight, so ARTPOP wins on quality and singles.

Artpop's title track alone ends all Chromatica songs, I fear.

ARTPOP has higher highs but also really bad songs like Jewels n Drugs. Chromatica is a more polished record overall.
