ARTPOP has higher highs but also really bad songs like Jewels n Drugs. Chromatica is a more polished record overall.

Polished is an opinion. They're of different sonically eras, of course artpop will be noisier.

Artpop, sweetie, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry that an ugly *ss b*tch like Chromatica would even say that, oh my god.

Artpop   chromatica is unlistenable in 2025. So dated. Meanwhile, art pop remains fresh.

Okay cohesive then. Chromatica feels like one solid vision while ARTPOP is more chaotic.

Chromatica is amazing but is subdued and playing to commercial territory
Artpop was breakin all the rules and feels more unique
One a throwback album and another one trying to be innovative

Was it? ARTPOP was quite trend chasing actually with the production.

In 2012-2013, David Guetta-Avicci style European-influenced electro house was the dominant genre, but ARTPOP went much harder with its beats. Many of the beats on ARTPOP are clearly complextro-progressive house-dubstep :giraffe:  they suited the time but also felt very unique and far harsher-full than your typical edm pop female club record in that year. She worked with some of the coolest and newest DJs of that time, like Zedd and Madeon. She was definitely trying to bring something new to the charts. Takin her EDM background and pushin the buttons to the MAXX+ Sadly, the album ended up feeling a bit overproduced and noisy during a time when lo-fi beats (like Lorde), funky retro sounds, and ballads from artists like Adele and Lana Del Rey were taking over.  So critics were not able to appreciate it.

Her intention for the record was clearly rooted in futurism and avant-garde ambition hennie :gaycat2:

I feel like I was one of the only people-stans who truly understood what she was trying to do with that record. :gaycat2: artpop is a very underrated album

Unfortunately, the execution wasn't strong enough.
It came across as very one-dimensional and could have benefited from more experimental EDM tracks.
Honestly, the original idea behind the record was great, but Gaga was too overworked, sad, and under titanic pressure because she was Lady Gaga
I honestly feel like Artpop deserved to be a double record :gaycat: Side I POP And Side II ART.
Something very Bjork-esque in one side and the radio singles in the other half (all the songs from the record we know)

We were hyped with:

but it ended like :gaycat2:

ARTPOP for all, tho I'll give Chromatica the fact it's more cohesive.

Gypsy is better than all of Chromatica.

G.U.Y, Sexxx Dreams, Manicure, Do What U Want, Gypsy, Applause are songs I use from Artpop.

Chromatica is one long drab. I like Alica, Free Woman Demo & Enigma though. Bloodpop completely dropped the ball on 90s house.

Chromatica is slightly better imo but both are great! I don't understand why yall pretend Chromatica is a bad album

ARTPOP is clearing based on the first half of the album alone. its NO skips.

chromatica is very lifeless. you can tell her heart was not in that era at all. cute cover tho

Better album and singles: ARTPOP

Better album cover: Chromatica
