The one with more monthly listeners can be in a lot of playlists but people don't even bother to ever click play on their "This Is" playlist.

Monthly listeners give the idea about how global a song is and how big an artist is in growing spotify markets

Weeknd and Bruno Mars songs are known most globally so their monthly listeners are top 2

Die with a Smile was a hit in all countries

Same for Blinding Lights and SYTears

Spotify has 670 million users now, only bruno was able to get to 150 million which is still only a percent of the total users

Daily streams indicate more of a fanbase

when I look at the top 100 most streamed songs on Spotify, half the list is shocking to me

Rihanna is super popular in Europe, NA, Latin America and Middle East

She is fairly popular in South East and West Asia 

 

Her only lagging markets are East Asia (Japan, Korea) which are not big Spotify markets by monthly listeners

 

So thats why her monthly listeners are a lot

tbh. this is so horrid virgin and herself abandoned her career and never gave it a treat like a legacy act. it's crazy #1's are getting 5k/10k daily.

There's a #1 hit barely scrapping a thousand plays ("The Promise of a New Day")... 

 

The streams of some of these songs are so weird, like songs I've never heard being at 3 billions of streams is insane, then I listen the song and wonder why the streams are so high  

The Weeknd's One of Your Girls having 2B streams is suspect to say the least  I know it was used for edits on Tiktok but I've never heard the song, even from friends, and I'd consider myself part of the GP to some extent

This having 2.2 Billion streams  That person must have made some serious cash with this. Also peaked at #23 on UK Spotify

Boom Boom Pow being crowned the #1 of 2009 but has less streams than the subsequent singles Meet Me Halfway and #18 peaking hit "Pump It"

The Way I Loved You (Taylor's Version) having more than 500m streams, like, it wasn't a single or anything and the fact that it's TV is kinda crazy to me. 

Xtina, with almost 30 million listeners, seems forgotten on one hand, so I expected less, but on the other hand, her numbers are not as impressive as they should be, considering how A-list she was during her 10-year career.
