What are some Spotify stats that you find shocking (either positively or negatively)?

 

Here are some of mine:

 

- Lil Nas X has only 19.2 million monthly listeners despite having 5 songs over 1 billion streams (2 of them have more than 2 billion). I mean, even Ava Max has 33.1 million monthly listeners. 

 

-Tones and I, even worse, has 11.1 million monthly listeners despite having a song with 3.3 billion streams.

 

- Ace of Base (13.2 million monthly listeners) have more monthly listeners than other 90's act Spice Girls (11.9 million) and are on par with NSYNC (13.4 million).

tbh. this is so horrid virgin and herself abandoned her career and never gave it a treat like a legacy act. it's crazy #1's are getting 5k/10k daily.

Why is this song coming up on 4 billion streams

alec benjamin... he isn't necessarily a super big star and yet his song 'let me down slowly' has over 2B streams and it only peaked at #79 on the hot 100.

Melanie Martinez' first album has huge, consistent streams across its songs  didn't know she was killing it like that

Maroon 5 has 72.1 million monhtly listeners, more than:

 

Katy Perry - 67.6 million

Dua Lipa - 66.7 million

Eminem - 66.5 million

Imagine Dragons - 59 million

Adele - 52.1 million

Olivia Rodrigo - 45.7 million

OT: the extremely random songs that have 1B... like wdym Chord Overstreet of Glee fame has a song with 1 billion streams

They r also huge in asia which is a growing spotify market

 

Most of these other artists haven't released any new music or r flopping

Cassie having 10m monthly listeners despite her album being released almost 20 years ago

Ashlee Simpson - 882.300 monthly listeners

It's 11x platinum. It's a BOP that always blows up around Autumn time. A seasonal classic!

The Less I Know The Better by Tame Impala having 2 billion streams. 

BLACKPINK's 30 songs giving them the same monthly listeners as BTS, despite BTS having over 250 songs.

RM, Suga, Jin, V, and J-Hope's monthly listeners are comparable to Jisoo's (6 songs), even though they've released multiple full albums and have songs with two to three times the streams.

Jimin's monthly listeners stand at just 7M, despite a supposed hit song nearing 2B streams and another surpassing 1B streams.

Jungkook's monthly listeners matching Lisa's, even though his song Seven is the most streamed K-pop song and one of the biggest songs on Spotify, approaching 2.5B streams.

Rosé and Jennie currently above 40M monthly listeners with only a single hit song each.

It's not a "shocking stat" but people should notice that Monthly Listeners is very "recent release + more playlisting" oriented.

An artist with 40 million monthly listeners can be outstreaming one with 70 million easily.

The one with more monthly listeners can be in a lot of playlists but people don't even bother to ever click play on their "This Is" playlist. 

Looking at overall streams / daily streams is way more accurate. Kworb is here for it!

Jennie also has that song from The Idol that's still pulling crazy streams 2 years later (currently #44 on Global Spotify and just crossed 2 billion total streams)

Space Song having 1.4 billion streams

28 million streams  a bigger hit than "Blade of Grass" by Lady Gaga or "Amen" by Beyoncé 

 

 

I think Kesha went from like 20M listeners to over 40M in only a year after her new management secured proper credits for her features. 

Always Remember Us This Way at 1.6B streams despite charting for 9 weeks outside the Top 40.
