I have looking at the past girls that were on track to make it and one that stuck out was Neon Hitch (The Love You Betta Songstress).

 

I almost forgot this masterpiece, I call it Dancing on My Own's twin sister. A Pop hymnal like no other.

 

 

Thankfully, I felt the power of Pink Fields wash over me.

 

 

So ATRL, do you remember ha, or have you finally gotten over her?

I remember her,didn't think she was still making music though.

 

Romani culture is pretty beautiful and I mostly remember her for putting a spotlight on it.

Tbh, I thought one day I would hear Benny Blanco had gotten married to her: Selena Gomez was a surprise.

Neon Hitch was one of the first pop acts I had followed through Billboard articles from signing, and she was just as much a free-spirit as he is: much time spent in India, a former member of a travelling European circus who made and sold jewelry on the side at random Euro markets, a trained trapeze artist, fire dancer, and stilt walker, and a poet. I could see them hosting Raves together.

He was also a little obsessed at the beginning: found her on MySpace, flew her to NYC, was instrumental in getting her signed to Warner, and instantly started putting her on every hook he was working on. 

 

I used to listen to the Happy Neon EP which I liked very much back then, and that's all I know her for.

I remember there was a thread here about her stealing money from stans and never sending them her albums due to them getting scrapped or something?

For the record, Neon is not ethnically Romani and she never actually spotlighted real Romani culture with her art. Her whole "gypsy pop" thing and the fact that she lived in a caravan with a traveling circus as a child is actually down to her parents being abusive alcoholics who couldn't manage their money well enough to afford a stable home. They fell into a crowd that lived a nomadic lifestyle similar to the Romani, but nobody in her family is actually Romani.

I don't think she ever called herself ethnically Romani? I mean she did call herself a Gypsy though, so, I guess maybe that's the same thing but I'm not the most educated on this particular topic.

I stanned her back in 2012/13/14 and was so excited for her Benny debut. That really should have came out. It did however turn out that she is not a good person whatsoever, so

I think about her even now and then, I'm still mad her debut album got scrapped and she never released her fundraiser album >_>

FUB, Gold, Get Over U, Poisoned With Love, Pink Fields, Midnight Sun all classics imo

yes she did technically scam stans. Instead of using the money raised on the fundraiser to pay the fees to release the album she chose to use the money to go on tour instead (for an album that wasn't released yet... and she probably pocketed the rest of the $$ too.)

 

donators were promised perks like signed albums and such  we even got a album sampler with snippets and she performed some unreleased songs but the album never came out so fans never got what they were promised which resulted in many fans unstanning and just a bad look in general as a scammer.

 

I guess she ended up coming up with a deal with the producers/songwriters she couldn't pay back then since she was able to release most of the songs she couldn't afford to pay for years later on random EP's or albums no one asked for. I don't get why she didn't just package those songs as that scrapped album to satisfy fans finally and try for a resurgence all these years later but whatever..
