Damn, Blank Space has become a legit worldwide classic.

 

We always knew it was of course, but the streaming numbers almost a decade after release are like irrefutable evidence of that fact.

I spend a lot of time thinking about what type of sound I want for TS10. I was thinking a cool game we could play in here would be to create a 13-track TS10 with songs that already exist by other artists and it would kind of reveal what kind of sound we want. All I know right now is that I would be looking for pre-2000s rock of some sort.

Yes that would be cool to see what everyone wants. All I know is her tenth studio album and the tour will be EPIC

I’m not convinced she’ll submit ATW10 as it is a re-recording. I think she’ll go back to the pre-Lover album release schedule and drop the lead in late Summer before Grammy cut-off and then the album in the fall in the next eligibility cycle.

the way reputation really set her entire career path off track and because of that album swifties spend every day speculating what's gonna happen.

that album really started this new era for Taylor 

Right now I’m split between like an alternative 70s rock sound (Rumors Fleetwood Mac type sound), a indie grungy 90s album (Alice in Chains/Nirvana) and huge 80s rock anthems and ballads (anything Heart’s ‘Alone’ to Bonnie Tyler’s ‘Total Eclipse of The Heart’ all the way to Guns n Roses’ ‘Sweet child o’ mine’)

I’m now on the TS10 hype and if she wants to come back to normal releases, the 2 year gap since folklore would make sense to release a new album. We have had two new albums in 2020, two new re-recordings in 2021, now she can do a full album this year and tour the next year while still releasing the re-records. 

 

I would also like a change in style, whichever she feels like doing… just not the same folkevermore style or just plain Pop, give it a switch miss thang

Yes to the first 2. I also want a pop album however tho. Big disco pop/ house pop. Also want her to experiment with hyper pop/ underground club music.

I’m leaning either Fleetwood Mac style, such as songs like Dreams and The Chain, or something like recent work from The National (see The System Only Dreams in Total Darkness as an example). Both are a natural evolution from Folklore/Evermore in some way. The most important thing is that the songs suit her voice well and are well-written, and I think she’ll manage those things no matter what.

I’d say Lover did that. Reputation was a year later than normal to allow some cooldown for her public image, but besides that it was an extremely typical Taylor release. Lead in August, album in mid-Q4, Target special edition with a collectible like 1989, etc.

We know she has 2 more original albums on her 5 contract deal left. She could release ts10 end of the year. Then 2 more re-recordings in 2023. Ts11 which would be her last album in her current agreement in 2024. Re sign with republic for 3 more albums and release 2 more re recordings in 2025. Ts12 in 2026. Karma TV in 2027

She rocked those leather pants and crop top at the Haim show. It’s mature but also really sexy. The rep leotards were a step forward from the shimmery 1989 dresses but they’ve got old for me. Her audience has also grown up a lot even since rep so I’d love her to switch up her tour style.

That moment extended her career by years, if not decades. 
 

I know most are a bit bored with that sound now but it is reassuring that if it all goes to **** with future projects (which I pray it won’t), she knows she has a sonic home she can return to at any time to boost her acclaim. I hope she remains close friends with Dessner and everyone else involved in this record because it is the kind of sound that never gets old and could carry her into a life-long career.

One thing I think she should do if she’s embarking on a rock album is to make more instantly iconic instrumentals. Her production so far does tend to be good but I’m taking about having riffs and melodies that are created to become instantly recognisable and completely original.

Absolutely. The whole album/"era" took her career to a whole new level and was the start of another imperial phase that is quite different than 1989. Then Red TV and her joining TikTok made it even bigger.

 

I wouldn't really mind another sister of folkmore for TS10. I would gladly take it and enjoy it, but yeah some people are definitely over the sound and she's smarter than doing it again for the 3rd time.

one year ago i was leaving work at 00:00, just to get home and wait till 5 to listen to folklore and WHEW, what a moment I will NEVER forget… she just blew me away even more when I thought it wouldn’t be possible

folklore does not capture my imagination in the slightest. like, i thought we were going into the woods and gonna meet fairies and wood nymphs but instead what we got was sonic tree bark.

and when i look at the lyrics it just gets even more stale. 

exile does fit very well with the theme cuz it's like you are being exiled into the woods and a couple other songs do that, but as a whole, it just falls flat for me.

seven i would consider another song that fits with the theme.

like the lyrics as a whole on the album are missing so much magic and the production too. hmmm.

with evermore you get more creative with concepts like "Willow" "Gold Rush" "Cowboy Like Me" the aesthetic is MUCH stronger and the songs actually have sounds that fit a bit more with the theme.

i think Lover expanded upon what reputation started.

It's too late for another folkmore. Hope TS10 has a proper rollout and a different sound

Lord I hope she actually does dabble into the rock genre more. Her voice fits so well.
