Mine is the only lead single choice that doesn’t make any sense in retrospective. She wasn’t saying anything with that song. The release didn’t make any point. She was just putting out another Love Story. As criticized as they were, WANEGTB, SIO, LWYMMD and ME had either shock factor, strong commercial appeal or a good video to accompany.

 

Mine could have been a Fearless Gold Edition track and people wouldn’t have noticed. Even The Story of Us would have served a better purpose as bad as it is. And if they wanted to convey a more mature approach, Back to December and Ours were right there. Speak Now was just a mismanaged concept that honestly I’m glad that since then she made her point continuously about sticking to a vision that made sense and wasn’t just Scott deciding things just because.

I can’t believe how polarizing rep still is. The girls that get it, get it and the girls that don’t, don’t. It HAS to be the most contended album she’s put out.

These rankings to me are pointless though, as I absolutely love all her records (even the ones at the bottom). I feel like others absolutely hate the albums at the bottom of their rankings and never stream them. I stream debut at least 70% of the time I stream folklore. I really do just love all her work. 

As much as I hate Mine as the lead single, it was lauded by critics for its “maturity”.

If any songs were going to get the single treatment it would have been CWYW and Getaway Car. Once Ready for It and Endgame underperformed and she already knew she was going to cut the era short anyway because of the move to Universal there weren’t really any scrapped plans, they just didn’t follow what they thought before the era started.

Rep has I don’t like is gorgeous that song is so cringe. Her rhyming face with face.

Its up there with Back to December as Taylor December classic.

So good.

In my dream, she would push it with a cute video this December. It wont do much on charts but it will help the song achieve holiday classic cult status in near future.
