It's the track 2 on my chronologically rearranged version of TTPD. How Did It End is still my favorite, but I Hate It Here is still worth listening.

Oh Taylor's best song this decade did that 

It's stunning and so underrated, such a great song about escapism. I love how her vocal delivery on it has a sort of whimsical tone to it that drives the point home more. It drove me crazy when the album first came out people plucked that 1830s line fully out of context (and left out the next part which finished the whole point) to try and drag her, when the full line/sentiment was such a great point about nostalgia.

It's so funny how the illiterates ran with that "racists" line, took it out of context and used it to drag. Media literacy is truly dead

i never understood the weird backlash over the racism part. it makes perfect sense to me and isn't cringey at all. it's only the first listen where lines like that and '90s trend' etc stick out, then you get used to it. this and many TTPD tracks are underrated. The Anthology feels like the spiritual successor and final part of the folkmore era.

I love this one. She could've made a great album with 15 tracks

One of the best songs of all time  The bridge is simple but so effective.

I love the concept of this song: the images she evokes of gardens inside one's mind or lunar valleys, the line where she says that to access them people need a key and she is the only one who has it are the perfect example of how people feel when they escape a bad situation by taking refuge in positive thoughts, future aspirations or memories. The melody is one of the most beautiful I've ever heard, her soft and straight singing fits the mood of the song very well. The only flaw it has is the verse of 1830, if it didn't have that it would easily be above many folklore and evermore tracks and the best track on The Anthology. As far as I'm concerned I Hate it Here and The Prophecy are her best songs on TTPD
