I think this is my fave song from her since FROOT. The three tracks so far have been classic Marina at their core, including the corny/clunky lyricism.

 

Some people need to just make peace with the fact that they no longer vibe with her music and that's fine.

This song is better than the previous 2 singles and it's therefore good.

 

Butterfly's chorus is annoyingly ridiculous and cringy and you can't tell me otherwise. It has nothing to do with vibing or not.

 

PS: I still like Butterfly because the verses and outro are great.

It's hard to ignore those cringe lyrics tbh

Maybe I'm just so used to KPOP but I haven't really cringed too much at the lyrics so far. I like Butterfly, but these next two singles have been great!

I get that Butterfly's chorus can be off-putting a bit yeah, but I'm mostly referring to the revisionism from people who clearly haven't liked her since 2015. I feel like this has been the general atmosphere in every single thread about her (and not only on this forum). All of Marina (And The Diamonds)'s albums had some clunky lyrics imo. That's part of her. The YOLO/Salma Hayek lyrics legit would fit on FROOT.

Lyrics are absolutely insane, even for Marina's standards. I can't even listen to this song without being pulled out of the moment by the words ☠️

I really like this song. The best of the bunch so far - also have a feeling the music video will further elevate it.

I don't see any issue with the lyrics here - they're meant to be unserious and are pretty fun and filled with personality. I think the "do people still say yolo?" line in particular, that a lot of people take issue with, is quite funny and self-aware.

Butterfly lyrics were pretty basic but both two other songs are better. I think she's not taking herself too seriously this time around and I'm hoping that will bode well for her.

this is actually peak merina campness since froot… i'm loving it 10/10. if u don't like it just move on with merina already and focus on not being a hater.

This I good, though I do wish there were fewer "cuntissimo"s during the chorus. (She's putting some extra emphasis in the word that wouldn't be there if it were a real word in Italian, and it's kind of throwing me off.)

 

It is definitely that special kind of camp that only Marina knows how to do. Very excited to hear how this all coalesces on the final record.
