  • There's only a handful of albums I've listened to that are as rich in sound and references and masterful in its execution as Renaissance. A lady ga ga record would definitely not be among those.

Mayhem has no fillers. Renaissance and its boring R&B nobody asked yes

  • Mayhem is really good, but Renny is just on a whole other level   Arguably Beyonce's best work

Mayhem.

I don't understand the praise for Renaissance, or most of Beyonce's albums from 2010s, except 4 (AMAZING album). I do like Cowboy Carter but it's still pretty mid for me.

Cowboy Carter is a mid album, the lyrics are really good but Renaissance is better and Lemonade is Beyonce's best album. Beyonce should've won for AOTY Grammy instead of 25.

Lemonade > Renaissance > Cowboy Carter

Here's hoping Act 3 > Lemonade

Born This Way > The Fame Monster > The Fame > Mayhem > A Star Is Born > Chromatica > Artpop > Joanne

Bare in mind that every Gaga album has career hits and highs:

Born This Way - Born This Way, Judas, The Edge of Glory, You & I and Americano

The Fame Monster - Bad Romance, Telephone, Alejandro and Dance in the Dark

The Fame - Just Dance, Poker Face, Love Game and Paparazzi

Mayhem - Die With A Smile and TBC

A Star - Shallow, I'll Never Love Again, Always Remember Us This Way, Is That Alright?

Chromatica - Stupid Love and Rain On Me

ArtPop - Applause and Do What You Want feat. Christina Aguilera

Joanne - Perfect Illusion and A Million Reasons

And in addition, Gaga wrote or co-wrote every lyric and melody on those albums and songs.

Are you sure, because whilst Alien Superstar is a fantastic song, it just barely made the top 20 in US.

Now, what Gaga has achieved in the last 10 years dwarfs Alien Superstar:

1. 2025 - Die With A Smile (#1 and a Grammy)

2. 2022 - Love For Sale - (#6 UK and #8 on BB Top200 and a Grammy for a....Jazz album)

3. 2021 - Rain On Me - (#1 on US BB Top 100)

4. 2020 - A Star Is Born and I'll Never Love Again (2 Grammys)

5. 2019 - Joanne (from Joanne) and Shallow (3 Grammys + US # on BB100)

6. 2018 - Shallow (Oscars for Best Original Song)

7. 2015 - Cheek To Cheek - Grammy for a Jazz album, #10 in UK and #1 in BB200

Why are you comparing an album track to singles and albums. :gaycat6:

The song is way better than what Gaga has been putting out

I'm not the one doing the comparing, GiRLbye is. What I'm doing is just merely stating the facts, not what others is which is expressing an opinion.

ALL UP IN YOUR MIND is one of the best songs this decade, almost nothing can come close.

Why must we pit these boatmates against each other?

Spoiler

I voted R by B.

Renaissance sweetie…

Now I will say Mayhem is better than Cowboy Carter

Reni is one of the best albums of this millennium so this

Rena

Gaga's sounds dated already

Edited by rihsus

I just listened to the whole Renaissance album to know what all the fuzz is about, and I didn't like it that much. It's monotonous for me.

While I do think it's a matter of personal preferences, and I can see why the album is very good, I don't see why it is undoubtely miles above Mayhem or other albums.

ST is way better, and I'd say Lemonade too. Those are for history books.

I prefer Mayhem over Ren, but personal preferences aside, I'd say they're pretty on par.

How do you wanna judge based on 1 listen tho?

Is your judgement based on initial bop-potential? If so, I feel VERY sorry for you. You are missing out on GREAT, DETAILED art in general and basically restrict yourself to fast-music, the equivalent to fast food.

Beyonces albums post 4 are all concept pieces, which are not to be consumed once. Their intention is not "initial-bawp", but story-telling, nuance, history merged with future. There's detail and intention to them. Every Instrument, every vocal choice, every decision is perfectly engineered. And trust the decisions are not just based on "it sounds good that way". They are based on intention, on historical and genre-truthfulness and on storytelling. You simply CANNOT judge these projects based on a first listen.

When Beyonce uses a banjoo and hires one of the most world-renown BLACK female banjooist for Texas, its not a coincidence. She doesnt just choose that Instrument because it sounds cute, but because its an Instrument that has its origins in Africa and because it was used by black slaves early on to make music. When Beyonce chooses to cover Blackbird, its not just because it sounds nice. She does that because of the meaning of the song, and in order to emphasize that she chooses to ask 4 upcoming BLACK female country singers to join her. Not because she thinks they are cute, but because of the message. There's really so much more to Beyonces albums than "bawps"

I did say I love ST and Lemonade (and 4, while we're at it) tho. Bold of you to asume I'm just into bops.

I don't see bops in Lemonade for example, what I see is a wide variety of things to explore and a very rich storytelling. I don't see that in Ren, and I don't have time to listen 5 times to every album there's out there. I'm sorry sis, that's why I put personal preferences in bold. I don't agree with you but that's ok.

That is fair, but you have to admit that basing your judgment on 1 listen is just, for a lack of better words, extremely superficial. I can only advice you to listen to Beys projects a couple of times because they truly develop over time. I also wouldnt binge-listen to them, but just do the whole album every once in a while. I guarantee your opinion will change because there's so much nuance in her music that literally goes over your head on an initial listen. Heck, I even feel that way as a stan
