Not here for the 80s aesthetic. We need to leave that in 20/21

The 80s is the WORST era of music & fashion. I might have to skip Doja this era 😭

Strongly disagree…especially R&B/Pop, hell even soft Rock (+ beginning of Electronic music).  It was peak music imo.  Everything went downhill after 80s-early 90s, lol.

Lowkey wish I got to experience more of it.

Right about fashion but 80s had the best pop music so if Doja is applying this to her new era then we should have some really good moments from her.

i feel like she can go in so many directions for pop for this.

80s r&b wasn't the strongest though but there are some classic gems.

Pop: Madonna, bananarama, Janet, Sheena Easton and a few others would be cute.

R&b: Natalie Cole, frank ocean Bobby brown the pPointer sisters etc

Rap: Salt n pepa, Roxanne Shante and early queen la

Rock: 80s hair bands can be a serve.

i would like a Sade sensual vibe on her Need to know essence.

How is someone on a pop culture forum and disses the best era of pop.

best of:

60s- groups

70s-rock and r&b

80s-pop

90s- alternative rock and hip hop/hip hop infused r&b

00s-dance party music

10s-chile:coffee2:

20s-gurl:lakitu:

Doja could give us some gems from at least three genres of 80s music tbh.

Thank you!! The 80s were ITT

New wave and synth pop music alone >>>

I've looked at that photo of Doja so many times. She looks breathtaking :WAP:

So hyped for this new era. Scarlett was really amazing and I'm so interested to hear Doja's take on the 80s inspiration.

80s R&B had…

Prince, MJ (if you will), Jody Watley, all the stuff Jimmy James and Terry Lewis produced, Klymaxx, Vanity 6, Lisa Lisa, Full Force, etc

R&B back then could honestly be considered Pop in some instances too (esp compared to 70s soul/R&B).

But yeah….given how eclectic Doja is, this can be a GREAT decade for her to dabble in.

*edit*

I assume you mean Billy Ocean?

Why is this reminding me of a Rihanna era so much? Can't put my finger on it. With an obvi Grace Jones reference.

Rated R? :coffee2:

Please do not let my personal distaste for 80's culture derail this thread. I adore Amala and I'm a Stan. I hope she finds major success this era 💕 maybe the music will surprise me and win me over. Xoxo

Fingers crossed Jacob doesn't do the actual photoshoot but I'm excited

I'm asking myself what you have in my mind to hate the 80's because there are a lot of classic albums.

Since you asked…I can't stand the 80s. The fashion was just loud and ridiculous—neon colors, shoulder pads, and perms everywhere, like everyone was in a bad costume party.

The music was all overproduced synth and cheesy lyrics that just don't hold up. And don't even get me started on the movies—so many of them were overacted, corny, and just feel super dated now.
