Instead of SEA countries, they chose Mexico….

Careers were ended. I can't wait for this very much still active idol group's comeback this month. :fan:

Especially with the way people are reacting to Gnarly stages, their powerful choreo and stage presence might help them make a dent internationally again with the current moment.

ok but why are we attacking aespa's picture when they are literally still a child?

of cos the usual aespa's haters will ignore it

And it's convenient to shade Katseye physics including Yoonchae which is still a child too. 2 wrong don't make a right but let's not play hypocritical here

We've been known that Aespa is basically all camera angles and tightly choreographed zoom ins. They don't have the energy to pull off the choreography that is needed for their songs and the ones that do (Giselle and Ning Ning) are the less popular ones in Korea.

Their music is still the best of the recent kpop gens though.

If this was 2021 I would agree with you but Coachella and their most recent tour proved it wrong. If you watch their solos compare their first tour to their second one you'll se the difference. They've improved a lot. Some of their music/award show performances still rely on lip syncing and camera angles since that's just how kpop is nowdays but they pull off heavier performances too.

The problem with aespa, it's not the group, but the management/producers/choreographers.

And the thing about Camera Angle Choreography it's already in their core signature and image so that it won't change, now it will help them to be recognized, like you'll know an aespa choreography even covered by someone else just for it, but at the same time it will be also their biggest setback for the western audience.

It's not just the camera angle thing, they also choreograph specifically for fancams ever since Winter and Karina both had mega viral moments from their rookie year with Winter's Step Back fancam and Karina's funny Black Mamba angle. I've been saying this for like a year and get clowned on but the focus on making goofy aegyo/cvnty faces at the camera and doing moves that only read well on camera kills their performances.

When aespa is allowed to just interact with the song and the audience with less specific choreography and more vocals the SM training finally shows up. That aespa seemingly only shows up to music festivals and college campuses though. They need to stop caring about how a performance looks to cameras and a lot more about how it reads to the people in the room. :gaycat6:

Chaeryeong was considered ugly because she didn't get her nose done. It's so funny how one second every girl group is a plastic nightmare and boygroup stans spend all day making up which surgeries they got and the next second the people with natural noses are ugly.

I definitely think they need a better choreographer and the ability to eat more. But you all have to be ******* realistic at some point and stop repeating the pattern of comparing idols in their debut year to idols in years 4-7.

KATSEYE just came out. Of course they have a ton of energy and are crushing the stage - they've been waiting for this moment and they're fresh.

Aespa haven't had a break in almost three years and their off time right now is spent traveling. Winter was literally just talking about how she wish she was dead (playfully, but still a little concerning) when she mentioned having no break from flights. It was also just revealed that they're doing so many festivals right now because they're the most in-demand SM artists so when people ask for them for a festival, SM makes that company do a bundle so they can send another artist, too, for exposure.

On top of that, Katseye release two minute songs with no ad-libs nor high notes and the mics are off. Their songs are meant for heavy dancing. They serve a different purpose than Aespa who belt in almost all of their songs, and that's okay. Both serve different purposes and both excel at it.
