Flops was perhaps too strong a word, but what i meant was that Nmixx + Baby Monster + H2H are collectively much weaker than Blackpink, Twice/Itzy, and Aespa/Red Velvet were at equivalent points. The gaps with the YG acts and JYP acts are huge and clearer of course, but with H2H the 'SM acts flop early' thing is actually only true for one major release. Next Level was a smash and Ice Cream Cake was a hit, and they are second major releases. Well H2H had their second release and Style made no noise and was nowhere to be found on the Korean charts. It was a step back from The Chase

 

There is hope for H2H of course. But if feels very different right now to how Aespa/RV felt. Nugu vibes is maybe how I'd describe it, same feeling Nmixx has always had I will be quite surprised if release #3 can course correct and be their first smash

 

And before anyone @s me no, Forever and Be Natural are not equivalent to Style let us be fuckin serious, a ballad cover and a cover that was already out there predebut are not equivalent to an original standalone digital single  You know what is? Aespa's first standalone digital single, Next Level

Unfortunately I fear what we are seeing isn't different to previous years. They typically sing live a lot more in between eras. It's happened before, on their previous university summer circuits, festival performances etc. SM will have them lip syncing all their stages once again soon enough. The only actual comeback they consistently sang live on was Spicy.

but it does feel like the company is making them put a new comeback once in every few months, to see if it sticks
