But that wasn't what I was responding to, they said this specific album would smash during if released during the Teenage Dream era. And my response was that this points out the main critique of 143 (outside of working with Luke) being a step back/rehash/ lack of growth from Katy, because if you say this album would smash if released as her second album in 2010… that's not really a compliment. 
 

And not for nothing, but outside of the singles (which are indeed immaculate) Teenage Dream… isn't that great of an album (to me). So pointing to a supposed decrease in quality from that… also isn't really a good point to make either. Which was my point in people missing the nostalgia more than the music itself.

I just realized what the guitar riff in OK makes me think of… you guys go and listen to the opening song of Kim's Convenience (Canadian sitcom starring Simu Liu). It is very similar.

I didn't click with any of the new tracks sadly , still prefer the main album's sound but Ok is cute

no more tears just sounds like a temu version of that stevie wonder song to me

Isn't the majority of the album made of singles, anyways? 

I write based on public pop perception and other's (Katy's in this case) standards as I am not a huge fan of generic pop in general. TD was never a masterpiece to me so the concept of decreasing to me does not imply that it was something huge.

Luke has really lost it, these bonus tracks are horrendous

The deluxe tracks aren't bad, but it's clear why they were left off the album. I figured Katy would use the deluxe album to drop a few bangers in a last ditch effort to get at least one hit from this album.

 

And Dr. Luke.. I'm so disappointed. What generic low quality songs. His work with Kim is excellent. Makes me think that maybe it's really Aaron Joseph doing most of the work on Kim's songs.
