No More Tears For New Years washes the whole album, might be my favourite KP song since the Witness era

 

In an alternate universe 143 did well and then she released NMTFN as the lead single of a KP Christmas EP with Cozy Little Christmas, that bizarre H&M song she did and a couple of christmas covers. I don't feel like NMTFM fits the album at all but it deserves time to shine

OK is just kind of like....ok. It's not atrociously bad it just sounds like it would be on a car commercial in 2014. it also doesn't fit the theme of the album at all

The question is are you not embarrassed coming for an intentionally cheesy, on-the-nose song about feeling happy?

You're really not doing anything shocking by posting these lyrics here, we all know what the song is about. 

 

And don't even act surprised by these lyrics when Katy's been known for writing cheesy tunes throughout her entire career  It's kind of her staple at this point and some of us appreciate that aspect of her artistry

'NO TEARS FOR NEW YEARS' is lowkey one of my favorite songs from this year, idk why but it just radiates the new years energy at its finest (though why is the actual title 'NO TEARS FOR NEW YEAR'S' ?? New Year's what??)

'OK' is my least favorite bonus track to be honest, it's just 'Love Sux' by Avril Lavigne but more diet cokey and botched up.

'HAS A HEART' and 'I WOKE UP' both seem like songs Spongebob would love so they also eat

Also the stupidity of some users here, not everyone is obsessed or concerned about charts & sales. I love 143 and i'm sure i'll love the deluxe tracks so that's the only thing matters.

We love a lot and intensely, BUT it doesn't hurt to inflate it with songs from SAME GENRE, to mask a at least the final numbers.

 

See it, if we want the album to go at least gold, it's because in first place we like it enough to worry about it's performance, it's something more about justice for 143 than "stupidity for charts and sales".

 

I say it for me, if I didn't like a album, it doesn't matter from whom beloved artist it belongs, I won't give a **** about it (just like How I'm feeling now , from my baby Chari XCX , horrible album, deserved flop)

OMG I listened to OK and thought this reminds me of Avril LOL.
I woke up is one of those songs that will put on those "happy mood booster" type playlists. 
No tears for new years IS lowkey really great, idk why, but I find myself replaying it over and over. 
As someone who really enjoyed the album regardless, these are a bonus. Not all hit, but i'll def be taking OK and NTFNY.

All these new songs don't fit together and have nothing to do with how she approached "143" as an electropop work. She should have saved them for the next project or even sell them to other artists. OK is cute tho and I'm listeninng to it on repeat. Is she embarking on a folk/country record next era? Well, I hope she doesn't use GPT chat + 8 people to write songs with 3 basic words that a 14 year old girl would put it out together. Revisiting PRISM and basing some experiences on really good and inspiring lyrics would be a good start, Katheryn.

as I said on the og album thread I love this album but I expected OK to be sonically more in line with the standard album rather than has a heart so it was a bit of letdown.

 

ok, has a hart, I woke up (and maybe ntfny) just don't fit sonically on the album and feel a bit off on 1432, they would fit much better on Smile.

although no tears for new years is my most played and probably my favorite from the album

 

anyways I'm glad that these tracks finally made it to streaming even tho they don't add to the value that much (except ntfny). I would have loved it if they would've added when I'm gone as a bonus track also, they could call it expanded edition and call it a day. sh*t, even add electric and all you need is love to this hot mess.

Because of this are bonus track, they are more mindless than the standard, all the songs from deluxe have a vibe of "to celebrate because we partied", something like a low point after the highest of the highest point of the night.

Standard is to freak on the dance floor , slowly (truth, artiificial) or fastly (crush, lifetimes) or in the middle (gimme gimme)

While Deluxe is the moment we are going away from party in the vibe "life is good".

 

At least I felt those nuances.

New Year's is an abbreviated form of New Year's Day or New Year's Eve!

I liked the bonus tracks more than the original album. Appreciated the guitar and hope she goes for a more alternative sound next album

my 2024 guilty pleasure is 143 (i actually gave katy SO MANY streams imo, she was my #5 top artist)

and i hated those bonus tracks, anyway, at least is something different for the fans!

no tears for new years is cute tho.
