I was on phone back then when I wrote the post, it is not a whole new album. 

No Tears On New Year's had potential but it has a robotic vibe that ruins it, it needs something more natural.

No tears has a robotic vibe on it, and "Soon it hits twelve a clock ..." which is  the best part of the song sound should have been longer.

Teenage Dream was lightning in a bottle because it came at the perfect time for it in the zeitgeist. Teenage Dream wouldn't work now days, or at least it would not be anywhere near as successful as it was in the glow of the early Obama era. Even without the dismal optics of working with Luke, this kind of pop music just isn't going to connect. Teenage Dream songs have gone viral because people are nostalgic about that time period imo, more than the actual music itself (although they are A+ pop songs no doubt).

Nobody doubts a LEGIT TD clone would not be nearly as successful as TD was (different climate on music, anyways) but it surely would have done FAR better than this new album. Let's not act that the quality of her work did not decrease radically after TD, even Prism was mid (not as much as this new album again, tho).

You're really not doing anything shocking by posting these lyrics here, we all know what the song is about. 

 

And don't even act surprised by these lyrics when Katy's been known for writing cheesy tunes throughout her entire career  It's kind of her staple at this point and some of us appreciate that aspect of her artistry

Still love NMTFNY and replay that a bunch, though I wish Katy had either added a bridge or switched up a verse or something, it deserves to be longer.

 

A common issue with this album is that the verses are very uninspiring or mediocre, and the songs don't have too many elements to them.

 

Haven't heard OK until now, and it is a cute song! The "Hey" part reminds me of something, but I can't place my finger on it. 

 

I'm glad that all these tracks are out on streaming!
