This is literally a slowed down recording of a vacuum cleaner, please.

Yes, surely she did an entire record just to piss tiktok fanbase off.

The TikTok "fans" are so insufferable, saying **** like "if you're expecting another Preacher's Daughter give it up!!!" / "Ethel is making this album to weed out the fake fans". Truly such an insufferable mindset as if they weren't licking up every last crumb of that album and thought it was some dark, twisted revolutionary sound when it dropped. It's never been that serious

It's a pretty good album but nothing Nicole Dollanganger hasn't been doing for a decade so I'm also astonished by the reception.

let me know when she decides to make music again

Similarly hesitant here... ready to enjoy this IF it's intentional feeling and not boring noise (some noise is not boring but some is). Her fans have HUGE superiority complexes when her music is mostly down the middle pop with some cool, dark embellishments here and there and while I LOVE that, most of her fans are pop listeners who are experiencing their first time being remotely challenged.

so that opener was just a bunch of nothing :rip:

let's hope it picks up from here, at least Punish is cute

if her mission was to challenge me, the listener, she did an amazing job

it's going to take me very little time to learn all the lyrics.. but a very long time knowing when to sing them

Comtemplating if I should add For Sure to the tracklist just to have a bit of an upbeat moment

Yes and yet they're all acting like they're not the very fans who will hear this and struggle to get through it :bam: they're all gonna pretend to like it.

I already know I'm not gonna like this and will find it unnecessarily painful and dark but if I keep coming back I'll learn to love it like I did with Punish.

Punish was the "pop bop" of the album so good luck :bam:

Vacillator and the last 2 are cute enough but I'll probably never revisit the rest

How do songs with an average length of 7 and a half minutes work on TikTok exactly?

Haven't we been told that TikTok is to blame for songs decreasing in average length (in some cases) to under two minutes?

I anticipate this will be a one and done situation but yeah as users said,

Punish is pretty good

Random thinkpiece incoming, I don't expect anyone to read lol.

I honestly see why a lot of people are disappointed with this project as I know a lot of people were expecting a more accessible follow-up to Preacher's Daughter but she has long expressed her interest in creating ambient and slowcore music. If you follow her soundcloud accounts you know she's been experimenting with it for a long time.

I personally am in the minority and think this a really well-executed concept. I thought the reaction this project evokes is really well-calculated on her part and I doubt it's to alienate the fanbase, it's more about getting the same reaction you'd get for coming face-to-face perversion. Some tracks are uncomfortable, almost evoking a sense of disgust and I think that was the intention. This is not one of those projects I'll be able to replay again and again but I came to realize replay value is not equal to good music.

Needless to say, the more structured tracks are absolutely amazing and are the highlights, I've been itching to hear the studio version of Amber Waves since I heard it at Primavera last year and I played the studio snippet she posted over and over last year over a really rough period. Punish seems beautiful and strangely the meaning of the song makes it probably the weirdest one on the record. I found Vacillator another really interesting concept, shying away from love because of fear I think a lot of her queer audience will relate to. Onanist takes me to a very similar place as August Underground did sonically but is a really interesting follow up to Vacillator as this one talks about wanting to know what love feels like. I thought Etienne is beautiful and the story about the suicidal man in it would actually make an amazing movie. :deadbanana4: Probably the most uncomfortable piece on the project musically is Pulldrone, it's really haunting but I enjoyed the whole 15 minutes of it.

So overall I'm satisfied but it's because this is what I expected and for those disappointed, Preacher's Daughter B-sides is still about to happen with songs like Dust Bowl.

Listened to the first track on a drive and it was transcendental actually

so it's basically a Ptolemaea remix album

I've only heard the first two tracks but it's not as scary as that so far lmao
