2023 was a massive year for Taylor and while many ATRLers agreed she couldn't replicate a year like that, a lot of yall agreed that she'd be able to keep somewhat of her momentum going. Yet flashback to this year, and Taylor is UNCOOL. She's been completely overshadowed by other artists and has made some terrible business moves that have changed the cultural narrative around her.

 

Taylormania is effectively over. What's next for Taylor? Should she give acting another try mayhaps?

I personally think so. She'll obviously always be successful regardless what path she takes but the quality has definitely dipped with her past two albums for me personally.

I'll echo the same view of a lot of people that are chronically online like us but she needs to ditch Jack. I appreciate she feels safe to create with him but I do believe it is impacting the quality of her work. The bedroom pop approach for me has run stale.

The Anthology is the worst project she's ever touched her hands upon. It's an insult to her actual great works like Red, 1989 and Folklore.

 

Once she learns that having a bunch of yesmen around you only makes you regress as an artist she'll be good again. But for now I don't have much faith in her. She's too comfortable with being mediocre

In 2024 Taylor has won her 4th AOTY, did 313M first day on spotify, sold 2.6M first week, occupied the top 14 on the hot 100 and will wrap up the biggest tour of all time. For any other artist any of these achievements would be career defining yet here comes the Dua Lipa fan to tell us how bad of a year Taylor had

"decline" could mean anything. she could "decline" and still be on top, in terms of charts and gross revenue.

 

quality of her music has been steadily declining since the 2020 folkmore albums. that hasn't stopped her career from reaching new heights.

I do think there are some decent enough songs on TTPD but absolutely agree that comparing to previous works like Folkore, Red, etc, it's more on the mid side, no shade. I do think the fact that she is massively overexposed in the media has warped my view of her as an artist. She's definitely deserving of all of her success, she's a phenomenal songwriter and businesswoman but I think she needs to take a lengthy break, live her life and come back when she has something better to bring to the table.

Her next album will only sell 1 million in its first week instead.  THE FLOPPAGE.

The fact that she was able to do ALL that with those fan driven 700 digital desperate variant sales yet couldn't get an ubiquitous hit like Cruel Summer or Anti-Hero just proves how unknown TTPD truly is to the general public. Congratulations on having a cult driven album. 
 

I mean decline in a sense that she might not peak again like she did in the past year but she'll never not be a superstar unless she pulls a 143

It's Latin American Month. Her powers are restored. She will only grow stronger.

I know it may be hard to believe as a Dua Lipa fan but some artists can move album units without having singles spammed on radio and TTH

 

She's still sitting at #1 on Spotify Artists and is still yet to end the biggest tour of all time

Some artists can have dozens of album tracks cross 100 or 200 or even 700M streams on Spotify alone (hello Midnight Rain), I know that's an unknown concept for most of the fans of other popstars in this website 

Even if blondie declined 50% she's still outperforming all of our faves..stop this discussion

You are absolutely correct. Some artists can move album units without having digital variants spammed on their website 24/7 as well. Something Taylor hasn't been familiar with since, ever?

 

Her latest album is the album with the most 100m streamed tracks of all time

 

As for sales, TTPD did 2.6M first week. If Taylor's next album did 80% less sales, it would still put her 200k units about the biggest album of 2024's first week.

 

She may decline a little, but she won't sink much for a loooooong time.
