Actually, it's Trace that was adopted. Miley and Noah (& their brother Braison) are the only kids Billy Ray and Tish had together. Miley's older sister Brandi and Trace are both kids Tish had before she met Billy Ray.

The way no one knows Miley has another brother who is exactly the same age as her and was born just a few months before her, because Billy Ray has very little contact with him outside child support.
